http://www.theonion.com/article/report-male-hair-loss-7-times-more-painful-than-ch-21194

Article:

LOS ANGELES—According to a study released Wednesday by the California Pain Medicine Center, subjects suffering from male- pattern baldness were found to experience a level of physical pain at least seven times more intense than that experienced by women during childbirth. "Clinical studies show that as hair gradually separates from the scalp, men experience intensifying waves of all-consuming pain equivalent to having their insides ripped out through the thousands of tiny follicles on their head," said Vincent Kwan, who led the all-male research team that carried out the study. "While strong uterine contractions and tearing of the vaginal walls undoubtedly cause a degree of discomfort among women in labor, balding men would give anything to experience those sensations instead of lying awake and suffering all night as their hair thins." Kwan stated that men's remarkable ability to endure years of excruciating agony without the aid of epidurals or other powerful analgesics was a testament to the sex's unrivaled tolerance for pain.

Is baldness being mocked, or its pain being acknowledged?

I don't find this offensive at all. It's a way to show others that hair loss can be a issue without sounding melodramatic (we're men, we shouldn't care about anything blabla).

And a lot of guy would want to handle the pain of childbirth if it ment perfect hair for ever.

Oh, the old "You're complaining because you're going bald ?" -which lasts forever- "I have to go through PREGNANCY" -which lasts 9 months and is a choice-...

I guess the woman who wrote this article wanted to ridicule the complaints of her balding boyfriend.

I guess the woman who wrote this article wanted to ridicule the complaints of her balding boyfriend.

If that's the case then that woman is not a very nice person, to say the least. Using something beautiful as a pregnancy to shut off other people from their problems? I've had severe chronic pain for years and that's not a reason to be an a**h**.

I even laughed at this story but I may have given the author too much credit and instead of a extremely subtle way of saying that men find hairloss a big problem he may have just went for the straight ridicule.

You can joke about baldness all you want, make light of something life shattering. You think that's going to have any positive impact on the public's perception on baldness? How about the non-existant research to cues male pattern baldness? How there is still no cure for flippin hair loss. Which still makes me laugh.

Doesn't dutasteride block all DHT? How can you lose hair when you have no DHT?

Isn't that sort of like a cure? A lot of cures and surgeries for diseases have serious side effects too. Even pregnancy is not safe, you can die from it or your children can have defects and that is a whole different league of horrible than hairloss.

Getting kicked on the balls produces multiple amounts of pain than giving birth. I'd get kicked on the balls not once but several times if it cured my hair loss and didn't cause permanent damage. That's the amount of pain I am willing to endure. **** pregnancy and their feminist bull****. If it hurt so much they would never get pregnant in the first place.

When I read the Onion article I defiantly felt as if it was in support of men's hair loss and the pain it causes. When compared to physical pain, hell I'd experience the pain of giving birth in a second to get my hair back, I think most of us would. The onion can be pretty funny at times, of course its all satire but a few of the articles I've read go into a lot of depth and draw out the story which can be very amusing. That article on hair loss was by far the shortest article I've read from the onion, I wish they would have tooken it further.

I am very surprised to read the reddit comments. Seems most everyone on that forum is in support of the pain caused by hair loss. I don't think I've ever come across an online debate (besides on hair loss forums) where baldness wasn't getting ripped to shreds or down played by a NW1's and politically correct women.
