Ever since that stupid idiotic fear Mongoring lie the daily mail (daily fail) posted I see some morons starting to say its one of the "known side effects of finasteride" (yeha one moron who blamed it for his little dick on a gossip newspaper)

on topics on these forums, scaring people who want to start treatment, I'm sick of it, I sew people here blamin finasteride for everything happening to them, from diharria (wtf?) to face changes, and what's up

with all that cancer releted bull****, the media claims that every thing from cellphones to the sun everything causing cancer, but does someone stopped with his cellphone because of it? Ho and just beacuse you started finasteride and it's popular to blame it for everything dosent mean its from finasteride, it's like that a**h** who said he got diarrhea from it, off course it's finasteride what else can it be?? (sarcasm)

The Daily Mail is absolute trash. I really don't know why it's popular.

If you read the Daily Mail you are probably 500% more likely to die of cancer...

I think there was a study where they gave rats - hundreds of times smaller than humans - loads of finasteride and they notices some shrinkage, in growing rats. I'm sure if you gave finasteride to 12 year old kids then something would happen, but of course we don't.

Finasteride has side effects, it's obvious, but some of them are really over-exaggerated or even made up.

Anxiety causes your penis to shrink. Ever been in a frightening situation like where you are about to get into a fight, your adrenaline starts pumping and you feel your penis shrink into a raisin? Same goes with cold water. Go do some vigorous exercise for a while. Major shrinkage because blood is redirected to muscles. Even before a bowel movement, your penis shrinks. It's due to your body redirecting blood flow to other areas of your body.

Some claim even their erect penis shrinks. Maybe they aren't able to obtain a full erection? Maybe they have gained weight which makes their penis look smaller? Even sitting in a different position can appear to make it smaller. Maybe it just 'looks' smaller because you keep convincing yourself it is happening. I've meticulously measured my penis to the mm at different times throughout my adult life (honestly, who hasn't) and it's the exact same as it's always been even after almost 2 years of finasteride.

PH is fertile breeding ground for discovering new symptoms. You have a thousand registered members (even though only maybe a couple hundred are actually active) that all think finasteride is poison, and that there is no end to the side effects it can cause. Only studies that show that the drug is dangerous are allowed, and anyone who even suggests otherwise is usually berated and humiliated or just outright banned. Everyone there is forced to believe one thing, and it warps your perception and inhibits your ability to think rationally. I can only handle visiting that forum in 10-minute intervals, because I feel like my penis is about to fall off if I read it any more. It's no surprise people that spend hours posting there are having such a hard time. But that's just my interpretation of it.

One important thing to note is virtually every side effect complained about is either mentally perceived (loss of libido, insomnia, brain fog, lack of energy/fatigue, depression, anxiety, etc.), or able to be caused by the mind (erectile dysfunction, penis 'shrinkage', gastrointestinal issues, etc.). A few complain about Peryronie's, which I haven't seen any direct evidence of occurring, and is an extremely common condition regardless. I have never seen proof that testicular shrinkage occurs, and the only other physical manifestation that we hear about is Gyno, which we all know actually happens when taking the drug. 95% of the symptoms stem from the mind, and the rest can't be verified.

Don't believe me? Take a look through google at symptoms of anxiety. Here is my first hit: http://www.anxietycentre.com/anxiety-symptoms.shtml

Take a good look and see how many PFS symptoms you can find in there.

On to cancer. Many people are convinced finasteride causes cancer, but I have never even heard of a single young person on hair loss forums OR propeciahelp that ended up with prostate or breast cancer.

Finasteride is extremely easy to get hold of; I got mine online without speaking to a single person (legitimately from the UK's biggest pharmacy, too - Boots). If it was such a terrible poison it would be a lot harder to get hold of.

Finasteride is about vanity, and sadly it can affect people sexually. These are two of the biggest things humans seem to care about in these times, which is why it's a hot topic as soon as a handful of people suffer symptoms.

I am suffering from lower sensation when I have an orgasm, but it comes (pardon the pun!) and goes so I'm seeing what triggers it (I am thinking the good ol' oestrogen thing).

(Sorry if this appears twice, my posts keep doing that despite clicking once!)

It's documented that the nocebo effect is substantial for 5 ar inhibiting therapies.

I was seeing someone last year and it was my first relationship for a while. I am quite shy and self conscious at times so when we were getting at it I just couldn't climax... happened twice in a row as well.

This was way before I took Propecia.

The week after that I couldn't climax even with self pleasure, and started getting floppy dead quick.

This was all in the mind because of what happened, but I got over it relatively quickly.

I can assume a lot of the effects of finasteride are similar... but I won't deny some are genuine.

I mean, how much do you think about your manhood now you take finasteride? I am constantly thinking about it straight after I take the pill... it's that habit we need to get out of I think.

You've got that right. When I first started the stuff, I was obsessed with checking my body.. checking my balls, checking my chest to make sure lumps weren't forming, worrying that my erection wasn't hard enough, that my libido was going away, checking out my penis every time I urinated to see if it was smaller and on and on and on. You keep doing this, you eventually start convincing yourself things are changing, even though they aren't. Hell, after a few weeks on the stuff I couldn't get ANY erection when I was about to have sex because I was over thinking everything so much. When I gave up on the worry (and its something you need to consistently force yourself out of) I realized I was perfectly fine.

When we think about things we take for granted lose control of them.

I mean, think about blinking and you become conscious of blinking... and it gets annoying because it's all you can think of for a while.

Same thing here, only it's worse because most men think with their dick (we all know it's true :p)

Thankfully, I don't even think about, well, anything when I pop the pill, I knock it back with water and that's it. I get on with my day. I can still knock one out after the other, well, I have to wait at least an hour, haha. :turned:
