Anyone got any updates on the meeting and what was said? A poster named Peter Mac from Hair Loss Help and Hairsite said HM is not going to be out before 2010 and it will take longer as he's been saying for some time. I heard hair transplant surgeons I talked to say the same thing.

Does anyone here really believe him anyways?

I haven't heard anything. I was just thinking about emailing Dr. Keene, whom I've met before. She once said that the problem with HM was that the hairs that grew in during ICX Phase I trials were thin. Well, that may be, but Phase I was meant to test safety, not efficacy, and the cocktail probably changed for Phase II trials. Anyway, my point is that doctors that perform hair transplants probably won't be as receptive to the commercialization of HM as we are. They make big bucks giving people hair transplants, and if HM is just going to require injections, that could mean less business for the current hair transplant docs.

But if HM doesn't come out before 2010, who cares!?! I mean, yeah, I'd love to see it advertized on TV or at the mall next week. But if this is more or less a cure, or at least a completely viable solution, to hair loss, then 2010 doesn't seem to late to me. I can wait until then.

The real b**ch of a wait is right now, these 6-12 months before we hear how Phase II trials are going. The ICX website states that they expect preliminary data in the first half o 2007. Man, I cannot wait until next summer. Until then, I think it is useless to talk about when HM will come out.

But I would also be interested in knowing what was said at that conference. Where is HairLossTalk.com these days?

el guapo,
You seem to have a very good attitude regarding your hair loss; much better than me. I have a sort of mad-at-the-world, why-me attitude. I want a successful HM to come out as soon as possible. May I ask, how old are you and how much hair loss you've suffered? I think the main reason for my hair loss anger is that I'm still in school and I think it has robbed me of some fun times.

You pretty much hit the nail on the head. I am 30 years old, going on 31. I first noticed my hair loss when I was 27. I was on a crash diet, and lost 20+ lbs in like 2-3 months, to try to get my ex-girlfriend back. Long story there, anyway, it was likely the diet and lack of nutrition that triggered my thinning. I noticed a lot of hairs on my pillow, and I got on propecia and minoxidil a month or so later. I'm using proscar (1/4 per day) and minoxidil 1x a day now, and I can gladly say that I am maintaining quite well.

So I really don't have an idea of what you younger guys are going through, except for the fact that I don't have a girlfriend, would like to get one, and get married and all that jazz, and my confidence suffers from the mere fact that EVENTUALLY I am going to lose my hair.=[

I can see why you want this to come out ASAP. So do I, I just think that HM is such an amazing breakthrough (if it works=), that if it takes a few more years to come out, I understand. The analogy that I use to keep my hopes upf is that if we knew, I mean KNEW, that it will come out in 2010, then I am like a poor bum on the side of the road who is holding a winning lottery ticket. I don't have the money now, but I will.

I won't lose hope unless in 2007 they announce that ICX-TRC Phase II trials still only result in thin hairs, rather than nice, thick terminal hairs, and not everybody gets good results.

Hang in there!

I get impatient sometimes, I really wish it would come out by the time I get my own place and have a good career.
