Alright well maybe its not a huge secret, but I'm sure there are alot of guys that could use this advice, so here goes.
Step 1) When you get your haircut (I'd get it cut by a guy), explain that you are losing your hair and show him the spots where you are thinning.. ask for a stylish hair cut which can best hide the areas that are thinning. He may even suggest shaving your head if its much too thin to hide.
Step 2) Here is where the key to having thick looking hair lies: Volume! Flat hair just makes it look worse. So here is what I do. In the shower, I shampoo, which I think is a must in making this work. I don't use a conditioner as I find it makes my hair lifeless and flat, your call though. Then when I get out of the shower, I towel dry it a bit but leave it still damp. Finally, the most important step, dry your hair with a blow dryer using your hands to excentuate the style you want such as bangs up, or a fauxhawk look. Anywhere that you can see scalp, put the blowdryer strait on it while doing quick short rubs with three fingers. This will effectively hide the scalp. Remember, the blow dryer will give you that volume you're looking for.
From here, I usually just leave it as is.. though you can add a little hair spray if you like. If you want to add product to it, do not use anything that will make your hair greasy or wet looking like gel. Go with a texturing paste or something with minimal shine. From here rub the product in your hands and ONLY apply it (very little amounts at a time) to the tips of your hair only, sort of pulling upwards that style you want. Do not put any product near the root as it will make your scalp more noticeable.
This should definitely make your hair look thicker, and trust me, volume is what brings hair to life. I'm a diffuse thinner.. and since I started doing this, I've been receiving alot of compliments on my hair. Lemme know how it works for you.
