Folks, looking for advice on this. I haven't experienced any side effects from using the drug but am concerned it might affect any future plans for starting a family. There seems to be a glut of information out there, most of which states that it is the handling of a broken pill by a woman that may cause birth defects and not the taking of the pill while the couple are trying for a baby.
I'm looking to get this clarified.
Also from a cost perspective I am currently taking the big three; nizoral, rogaine and propecia. If I stop taking propecia is there anything else that might combat hair loss with such venom?

If you haven't experienced any side effects, why should you quit? If you're planning to have kids, simply stop taking it for a month or so before having sex and resume the treatment once the good news is confirmed :)

True women cant touch or handle broken tablets of propecia when they are pregnant because it can cause defects in the baby. I've read a few sources on this being in a similair predicament to you. I can tell you trying for a baby on finasteride is possible without the risk of harm as the the tablet is broken down in your body so it cant be passed through the semen to the women. It can however reduce your spem count as a result of hindering dht in your body and make it more difficult for you to get someone pregnant. So there's no risk from sex, but there is from the women touching or taking the tablets. At least thats what i have read about it.
