Thinning All-Over Since Starting Rogaine

Hello guys,

I'll try to explain myself quick and simple, and please reply only if you were/are through the same situation as I am:

- Since I started using rogaine, my whole hair texture changed (even on the back/sides). I do not mathematically know if hairs are really thinner, but I'm sure they feel different to my hand, the feel more coarse and thinner, and more subject to wind's power, for example.

- However, hair looks exactly the same (or better) to the eye, and in some parts my coverage has even been benefited from Rogaine (testing with strong light).

- As a side-note, and my guess is that I'm a strong responser to rogaine (for the good and the bad), my chest and pubic hair texture has changed in the same way as scalp hair (it just feels thinner) and sometimes I suffer from light diziness and an inofensive minor level of blurred vision.

-----------

Well, I know most of you will tell me "stop rogaine and see if it changes back". I know that and that will be my hard decision - stopping it and risking the benefits or sticking with it, risking these side-effects.

All I want from you are reports of people who feel/felt in the same situation as I do, and how it got better/worse.

Thanks a lot for your help, and sorry for starting asking such questions in my first posts :)

hmm 1 time i got head ace and disyness.. but i belive it was because when i aplyed minoxidil.. i had a sit that was popped.. and could have gotn some minoxidil directly in the blood stream. if you absorb to much this can alsow be som sides.. maibe try to get the same coverage on the head with a litle less minoxidil. Good luck..

PS: i would try to continue.. because of my hair, but its up to you

since starting rogaine six months ago I feel as though my hair has thinned more. However, last night I was told that my centre parting was looking narrower. I have also noticed some new hairs, but still my hair feels as though it is worse than it was prior to minoxidil. Its confusing! I occasionally get a red face after applying rogaine, and I have noticed some veins in my right ear protruding quite alot a few hours after application. Occasionally my chest feels a little tight too. These side effects aren't enough to put me off using rogaine though as i'm scared of losing the new hairs the rogaine has grown.

Thanks a lot for your answers.

I guess stoping it or not is our personal decision, there's no right choice, but we can try to stop it some weeks or reduce the applications to once a day, or go down to the 2% solution.

how long ya been using rogaine dude?

5 months, but I noticed what I described above in less than a month after starting it.

I missed a detail, I've already tried the 2% solution with no problems so my choice would probably be the 2% if by June these problems with the 5% one continue.

I suggest adding MSM to speed up hair growth. Your hair looks thin because of the mousse like qualities of the foam. I'd stay on it but I would add MSM (for a while) to speed up your hair growth.

I'm using Rogaine topical, but thanks for your suggestion, it might help!

My feeling is that given the mousse like qualities of the foam, I need to have my hair look as great as possible before I apply the foam. I like L'Oreal Vive shampoo the best, but I ordered some Revita and will try that too. If I use for example just Nizral shampoo 2% my hair looks crappy.

Once I put the foam in, I style my hair very soon thereafter. If I wait too long it does not style as well. I'll style with my fingers after a few minutes, moving the hair mass from left to right so as to reduce having parts of my hair looking crusty from the foam mousse.

I'm an advocate of MSM too, simply because it makes my hair grow faster, so I am enjoying the benefits of better looking incumbent hair and regrowth much faster.

If your hair looks flat and dry before you put the foam in, it won't help the appearance that much IMO.

Tks klink :)

I forgot to mention that my hair now feels "dryed" out, or a bit dull, liveless. I don't know if these are the right words because english is not my primary language, sorry.

Anyone who also thinks Rogaine caused him that?

PS: It's written on the bottle : "Some people may see a change in hair texture" - maybe this is the answer for my whole post, but I just liked to share it to you, maiinly to those of you who are in the same situation.

I guess I'm gonna stop for some weeks and see if it changes back. I'll keep you posted later!

Just a quote from a very good JayB's post (about changes in hair quality, in general):

"3. Fly away hairs grow out of your head. You start to have fly away hairs like women do. Men arent supposed to have that. Whether gelled or not, most men's hair seems to be exact replicas of each other thus creating an equal plane of hair. Men with thinner hair seem to have hairs flying out of their scalp especially when their hair is gelled..you could see wierd hairs that arent held together with the other hairs and seem to just grow out of nowhere.

6. the entire texture of your hair changes. you can put your fingers on any area and immediately the hair will fall underneath your fingertips and youll feel scalp as opposed to having to part your hair in order to feel scalp. "

These two sentences are a good summary of what supposely Rogaine has caused me since I'm using it. Like I said, ironically I guess I am a very good responder, that's why I suffer so much from side-effects.

I just purchased Dr Klein's Remox 12.5% for my temporal regions and frontal hairline. and am using the 3.5% solution (with Retin-A) for the entire head Im a woman too and though it sounds weird, im losing at the sides and have hairline receding like men. I have Telogen Effluvium, diffused thinning on entire head but not damaging emough to render me bald at the crown like most women do.

After application of Dr Klein's remox, I noticed a lot of shedding. And my forehead has become worse...i now have a very broad forehead, something like a norwood ii or iii. But then. after one mth of shedding, it kinda ceased yesterday. But then Im very worried about regrowth. Will I get back all the hairs that Ive lost and gain more or just maintain what I currently have after the dread shed. Its scary...Ive never experienced shedding at that kinda rate. And ive been using minoxidil (5%) for like 7 years already.

I do rem the time when i regrew a healthy head of head.. a couple of years back though. Its using Dr Lewenberg's formula. But then, I sufferred seborrheic dermatitis from the solution. Now, I kinda regret increasing my dosage to 12.5% at the front and sides. I shud have stick to 5% (Rogaine) or the 3.5% one with Retin-A.

I too, feel that minoxidil made my hair worse den before (for the time-being), I can only hope and pray that I'll regrow what Ive lost. Its too risky to stop them now. Ive just completed my 1st month. I'll endure and see what happens after 3 mths.

How I wished I had chance upon this website sooner..

I have been using minoxidil foam for about 6 weeks now and the frontal area that I have been applying to looks terrible now, it's unbelievable how much I've lost really. My only saving grace is the small hairs that are growing as a result of the treatment, I might try this MSM.
