Thinning all over. Starting on Regaine. A couple of questions...

Hi all!

Long time listener, first time caller.

I've attached a recent photo of my hair (post haircut). My hair has been thinning all over for years now - top, back, sides - though no obvious bald patches. I'm about to start on minoxidil (Regaine). I had a couple of questions as a rookie...

1. I was wondering if it could be effective around the back and sides as well as the scalp/crown if I were using a massage brush to try to give the foam as good a coverage as possible?

2. Is it possible minoxidil leaves your hair worse off than it was before (e.g. all the shedding, none of the regrowth?)

Any feedback or pointers would be really welcome :)

Yep, you should definitely use finasteride with minoxidil.
From my experience, minoxidil is a king when it comes to regrowing hairline and temples. I also take a variety of other things, but I Think minoxidil is responsible for like 80 percent of my hairline REGROWTH.
I take liquid orally, and a very big amount (25 g per day) and my results are great so far. Also consider micro needling balding areas: it is cheap, quite convenient and also works really well in combination with topical minoxidil

Thanks, Jag! The Regaine I have is the foam version, so I'll have to run with that. But I will be getting the finasteride soon, and I'll pick up one of the micro needling devices. How often do you use that?

I microneedle 1,5 mm obce a week and use minoxidil once a day (one should use it twice a day, but I take only one dose daily just for convenience and it doesn’t really impact the overall results)
