Thinning starting behind hairline

Hi,

My first post. Great forum !!!

I was wondering. My thinning starts primarily "behind" my hairline. I don't really notice that much of a receding hair line per se. It's just super - super thin in the middle of my scalp. It's like it starts in the middle and work it's way out towards the sides. Unless I'm using Toppik, it's difficult to cover it. My wife says it extends to the crown, in back, of course, I can't look behind my head without a mirror, so I've pretty much ignored that up until now.

My question is, should minoxidil, fincar (generic proscar) and nizoral help with the thinning, (assuming I respond to it?) Does it affect the thickness of the hair shaft in any way?

Thanks

You are a diffuse thinner by your own description and yes, you should get good results with that combination. Make sure you spread the Min all over the top of the head in the thinning areas. Be patient, you'll probably have a shed in the first month but that will pass. Also, be prepared for what I affectionately call the "hormone stabilization process" - the period where your body and mind are getting adjusted to the new balance caused by the finasteride. That MAY take a couple of months or no time at all.

I too am a diffuse thinner and have seen the hair that I had - the very thin ones - come back full to life, thus giving the impression of new growth.

Thanks so much for information. After reading your post I did a search in google.com on "diffuse thinner" and yep, that appears to describe exactly what I have. I had never heard the term before, and often wondered about the type of hairloss I had.

I'm just now beginning my regimen (not quite a full month). I'm going to take some photos this afternoon, and try to keep a record of my progress. I appreciate the encouraging words. I'll hang in there.
