Hello all,

I am 19 years of age, started noticing hair loss at about 16-17. About last year mid-April, 2009 ive been using minoxidil, thinks it hasn't really improved my hair just maintained it if anything, but for some reason i feel like my hair has gotten worse at about Febrary this year. I had decided to add Nizoral and Provillus at about a month and a half ago, so far nothing notable, however fter reading around for the past month i am starting to have my doubts about provillus and want to jump on finasteride. My quesiton is, should i wait for the 3 month mark, should i start finasteride straight away along with provillus, or should i just drop provillus all together and cut my loses?

Also is there any reason why i may feel as if the effects of minoxidil are wearing off after about one year despite regular use?

Back after trying finasteride for 3 months. So far i think its working, harder to tell with long hair so ill give it more time. Btw im still using 5% minoxidil.

First set of pictures is baseline for finasteride.

This is the 3rd month into finasteride..
Any sides?? yea some ball aches here n there, but nothing to drastic.

Something i noticed from month 1 1/2 into finasteride and 3 is that there was a massive shed of little, whispy, short, thin hairs. Ratio was about 1 mature hair falling to like 4 small hairs.

General comments: hair looks and feels thicker at scalp., however the hairline is still not the best.

Any advice or recommendations would be helpful.

I took these like 10 days ago, so like 4 months on finasteride..

Things I have noticed:
After the 3rd month, inflammation had subsided, and hair loss slowed down.
But now, inflammation had returned, and rate of hair loss is kind of still the same. So I ask, when does hair loss become less noticeable or stop after starting finasteride???????????
Hairline isn’t strong, don’t know if I’m losing it or gaining it…..
Also, right temple remains stubborn and is still the same; however the left temple continues to show improvement.
Any advice or feedback would greatly be appreciated.

Your hair looks good man, just let the finasteride do its job. Don't worry about it too much and evaluatie after a year and then start adding things. I saw some results at 5 months I think.

You've got good hair. Getting back to your stage of 'hairloss' is the ultimate goal of many of us here.

Anyways, good luck with your regime.

Hey ive been trying to upload month 5, but there seems to be an error, nonetheless i had a few questions anyway.

Is there anyway to strengthen my hairline and right temple? Note ive been on minoxidil for about 12 months i think, and finasteride and nizoral for 5 months. However hairline looks like its receeding with heaps on little hairs and whispy thin ones.

Hope this makes sense, bottom line, does anyone have any suggestion on what product i can use for my hairline and temple.

Cheers

This is an update at 6 and a half months.
Still losing hair but not a drastic amount.
Frontal region at the hairline seem to be the thinnest area.
Right temple remains at the same line of recession.
Thinking of either waiting a few more months, use another topical agent or add dutasteride to my regimen but to use it liike every 3rd day.
(note most of the photos are taken in sunlight and flash)
Any comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Man your hair is really REALLY thick and your hairline is still really straight. I get that you want to take preventative measures (hence the finasteride and nizoral). Really though, dont throw in anything else. If you can maintain this you are a 100% hairlossfree man. Also, might the finasteride ever start losing effectiveness you still have the minoxidil in your pocket if you ever NEED it and its not some vanity over 3 missing hairs in your temple region! Good luck anyway.

Here is month 7.

Recently within the past few weeks there has been a significant increase in hairloss. Not sure it is because i didnt use minoxidil for 2 week before new years (due to being away), or other unknown reasons (finasteride shed, etc).

Also i dont quite know whether i am 100% hairloss free. I wish.

Advice, support or logical reasoning behind my concern would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Who's to say that?? Diffuse thinning often looks very different from receding hairlines.

My hair also has the same sort of "look" as yours now. I think / hope for us both it's just a shedding. I to am losing a lot more hairs now. Normally I hardly see any hairs on my clothes, pillow, sink ect. but now there are like 20, 30 each time I brush.

Don't worry about not being on minoxidil, as long as you keep using it in long term a few weeks off wouldn't hurt.

I think almost two yrs ago, at 18, when i shaved my head. there was obvious thinning in the whole frontal area. But now after jumping on minoxidil and finasteride for a while i think, or i am more hopeful that i won't completely diffuse for several more yrs to come.

I believe that my hairline has somewhat improved from months ago. Not sure whether it the miconazole nitrate or finasteride. As well as the roots of my hair at the scalp.

Cheers for all your opinions. @ Hellboy i saw ur profile. i think u should stress a little less.

However, im still curious as to the recently shedding ive been experiencing, hope it slows down soon.

Hello again, its been about 2 months since ive been shedding heaps. Still unsure of the cause. I feel like atm ive fallen below baseline and far below the 4-5 month mark.

Anyone know why this may be occuring????

Cheers

OK so its been a year on finasteride. Here are the results. (Hair is wet)
Note: for the past 2 and a half to three months ive also been taking dutasteride every third or fourth day, and within the past month i started noticing an increase shedding of small miniturised hair. Esp one where the tip is very very fine and the root comes to about 1/3 to 1/2 of the thickness of my terminal hairs. Hopefully a good sign?

Also another concern i have is the the back of my head (not scalp is heavily inflammed), which is weird considering i dont apply minoxidil on it (obviously) and every shower i apply nizoral, anyone have a similar experience?

Ive also been applying mic to my hairline for the past 2 months not sure if its working.
