I started using finasteride early December. Around the 3 weeks mark my libido skyrocketed and hair shedding went into overdrive. This isn’t some placebo observation I wore hairnets and recorded hair fall and data. Anyways this continued for about a month and a half and then suddenly it’s stopped.

Would it make sense to say that for some, cutting androgens up regulates sensitivity for a while then the body gives up and goes back down to normal or even downregulates sensitivity.

I mean why else do we experience increased libido only for that to completely go away and now I have to work really hard to get a hard on which also occurred at the same time my hair stopped shedding.

Propel used to say increased test is why causes the increased libido but if that’s as the case then it wouldn’t go away yet alone completely go away when on finasteride cause my test levels should either be normal or slight above base.

Idc about the libido thing.

But I am curious about peoples thoughts on this upregulation process.

Most peoples libido doesn't skyrocketed at the 3 week mark. If yours did however it would make sense for it to be the increase in T, and then maybe died down as your DHT continued to drop. The shedding is a drug induced effluvium - nothing to do with upregulation. My hair shed like crazy for almost 2 months until it settled down when i started finasteride.

As for up regulation its hard to know what really happens to the AR on finasteride. Whilst there is obviously a drop in DHT, your T remains to function as per normal so your AR is still receiving androgens so its unlikely just the drop in DHT could suddenly force up regulation.
