Three weeks in and already considering quitting.

I've been using Proscar 1.25mg for three weeks and nizoral 2% for six weeks now and I have to say it's completely destroyed my libido in these past two weeks.

My erections are becoming very weak and I have ejaculated once in the past fourteen days. Even then it seemed half-cocked, as it were. My libido seems pretty much non-existent, a complete change from before.

I've obviously not seen any improvement and I wasn't expecting to given that it normally takes a year to see results on finasteride, and so I am going over in my mind whether I should see it out or get rid of the finasteride now and just try something else that doesn't have sides.

Any advice would be again thoroughly appreciated.

Give it 3 months - if the sides are still there, then re-evaluate your situation.

A more experimental approach would be to go topical finasteride - dissolving it with minoxidil. Around 0.3mg a day is what I'm on via this route. Less sides - but possibly less benefit.

Actually, you can first try reducing your finasteride dosage to 1/8 proscar ED, instead of 1/4. At least you know your Proscar is real if your libido is gone.

yeah, what they said. and if you do go topical, don't just put the ground pill in your minoxidil. it will stil work if you grind it well enough, but you will have powder in you hair. dissolve it separtely from your minoxidil and then pour the liquid into your minoxidil and discard the powder. I wrote out some directions in the experimental section if you need them.

Keep Going

Before you try topical finasteride (which is less effective) or less dosage of finasteride (which is also less effective), keep going for as long as you can before you give the 1mg up. Most people stop having the side effects if they keep taking it, it´s basically your body adjusting to the new hormone levels. If it doesn´t go away after 3 months, try reducing the daily dosage to 0.5mg or 0.25mg. only if that doesn´t work should u try topical finasteride.
