Hi Everyone! I'm writing this because I see a lot of complaints about Toppik (and similar products) out on all the forums I follow, and I personally find them to be unfair. Often times you read how the product looks like dirt, how it falls out overnight, how it looks dull, etc. Now, as an experienced Toppik user, I have had these things happen to me at one time or another and have found a way around all of them. It isn't the fault of the product, you just need to find what works. As a young man, the product has helped me keep my self esteem high, my social life intact, and has allowed me to just get on with it so I don't want people to feel like it won't work for them - here are my tips:
1). Make sure your hair is dry. I personally blow dry my hair and find that it helps later on with styling as well.
2). Apply product BEFORE the toppik. This is especially true if you've just washed your hair. Shampooing your hair will temporarily decrease the static charge that Toppik uses to bind to your hair so adding product first helps. I use a few - I start off with Schwartzkoppfs Got2BGlued.
3). Apply a small amount of Toppik.
4). Spray lightly with hair spray and allow to sit for a few minutes before shaking or combing any out.
5). Next, I use a comb to simultaneously knock out extra fibers and to give my hair the style that I want.
6). Usually steps 3-6 are kind of a cyclical process until it looks good, but the key is to never apply TOO MUCH at once.
7). THIS IS THE ONE THAT CHANGED THINGS FOR ME. My problem was that my hair always looked terribly dull where the Toppik was applied. I recently was in Ireland (I'm from the USA) and purchased a hair product called Dax Short and Clean. This stuff adds an amazing shine even to hair with Toppik applied and it is CHEAP. Check out the website.

Following these steps and tweaking them in your own way should prevent it from looking like dirt (this happens when you apply too much), prevent it from falling out even overnight (I only have to redo every 3 days), and helps to increase shine and the natural appearance. Not only do people not notice anything is wrong with my hair, they actually compliment it!
