Tired. Should I just shave it or keep with routine?

I’m so tired of researching hair loss treatment, and applying minoxidil/taking finasteride and not seeing any results. It’s been 8 years that I’ve been using minoxidil. I’ve been in finasteride 3 separate times, once back in 2013 for about ~6months , once in 2015 for about -1 year, and again since August 2020, so about ~9 months....

I might losing even more hair now than ever. I’m 34, and I just don’t know if it’s worth the hassle anymore. Anyone have a similar situation, able to offer any thought, feedback?

Thanks.

attached are my most recent pics of my crown.

Hairline/temples are perfect... but without a crown, it doesn’t matter

Your hair doesn't look bad at all, finasteride won't work if you don't stay consistent with it. why did you keep stopping taking it?

If you didn't quit finasteride multiple times you'd probably have the exact same hair as you did 6 years ago. Just start it and don't stop unless you're getting sides, you can probably improve this to a respectable degree. minoxidil wont do anything for you by itself but add needling for more results.

I stopped taking it because the first time I got sides. The second time I wasn’t seeing progress. This time I’m just gonna stay on it for 2 years, and hope something happens since I’m not having sides

I’ll try the micro needling. I’m afraid of causing even more damage though

It won't cause damage. Also, you need to just commit to finasteride long term or just give up now and accept/shave it. You don't need to see progress for finasteride to be working, it just staying the same IS finasteride working.

Improvement will be made from the needling with min.

Finasteride isn't supposed to grow any hair back, it just helps to stop more falling out. Some people are just hyper responders and grow a ton back.

I think it will thicken hair though and give the appearance of regrowth. Balding is about miniaturization of hairs and some of those small hairs shed and regrow healthier. Also it should extend the growing phase so you have less hair in the resting phase. Also gives appearance or regrowth. But it won't fix a bald spot. Nothing will.

finasteride + minoxidil + rolling can grow hair on bald scalp. I've seen it happen multiple times.

Also more aggressive but obviously MtF transition can as well.

You’re hair looks good. All finasteride is supposed to do is prevent or slow future hair loss. Stay consistent and don’t go off it again. If you continue losing hair, then maybe try something stronger such as dutasteride.

Is dutasteride an easy prescription to get?

Bro you’ve got hair that many bald people would love to have. You’ve got a solid hairline and decent thickness at the front.

You need to take finasteride and rogaine. If you do this you’ll keep your hair for a long long time. Otherwise you’ll go fully bald within a few years and look back at these photos think ‘why didn’t I do something when my hair was decent’

You still have great hair, be consistent with Finasteride.

If you keep getting bad sides from finasteride then try lowering/controlling DHT naturally. I'm not saying this to slate finasteride or meds as they work well for some people. I know many see these as snake oil, but its so obvious that there would be natural methods the same way people increase DHT and testosterone naturally. Not as powerfully as finasteride or dutasteride but I'm telling you for sure natural ones work for me to at least control DHT as I get instant (same day) feedback if i take to many I feel crap (low DHT). And I've finally found my sweet spot.

Also have you tried using hair fibres in the meantime? I swear looks like you could entirely cover that crown with some nanogen.
