I'm 26 years old. I work in the entertainment field where image is pretty important.

Long story short...I've had long, long hair for about four years now. Had it cut because I was having to literally rip a lot of it out in the shower because of the tangles (I have curly hair)... so I had about three inches or so cut. I've also used heavy heat from a diffuser on it in the last few years which has damaged it a bit and made it even more dry than it already was. Well, I noticed after the cut that in the front my hair was dry and thinner. I can see my scalp if I don't style it a certain way...

My Dad is thinning but has hair... his Dad is bald, and his Dad was bald.
My Mom's Dad has a head full of curly hair with a normal receding hairline for an older guy. His Dad had full hair too.

So, I know you guys aren't experts...but what are your opinions based on these pictures taken in the last few weeks?

IMHO it's not possible to tell yet for sure. Your hair is really frizzy naturally. If you do have something it's very very early stages. So early that it makes no sense to make any guesses. I suggest you take pics with conditions (hair length, lighting, etc) you can reproduce in 6 months. Meanwhile just forget about it and enjoy life.

Looks as though to me your have got a fair amount of recession, i think your thick curly hair covers it up very well. I would start treatments but this is just my opinion, nobody knows your hair better than yourself, you can always take photos again in a few months and compare if you want to wait a while.

If this helps....this was taken in April of 2006 when I was getting my hair cut. Can you tell if I have the same hairline now and just being paranoid...or if it's gotten a lot worse?
