tomorrow (most likely), i will get my prescription for Propecia. about 2 months ago i went to the derm' and we talked about getting me on Propecia. he said "propecia should work well for you." this encouraged me, unfortunately i had some type of fungus/irritation on my scalp and so he prescribed something to take care of that. he wanted to fix that before getting me on propecia and so i had to wait... and wait... but tomorrow should be the day.

im somewhat nervous and excited at the same time. i mean, if im a good responder (which i should be) such a huge load will be taken off my shoulders. it will feel good to know that in the very least, ill most likely keep the hair i have for the next 3-5 years. best case scenario, ill regrow some. im hoping and even more so, expecting the best! i truely believe that having a positive attitude will somehow improve any situation.

side-effects... i wont lie, im a bit scared. i, however, have come to the conclusion that side-effects (the serious ones) are very rare . sure, i might have a decreased libido or maybe i wont be "rock-hard", still im confident that as time goes by any imbalances will work themselves out. actually, the only real concern i have is related to weight gain. im pretty heavy as it is (220) i have been working out though and plan to continue until i reach my goal (a solid 190-200). im a bit weary that the hormonal changes may make hard for me to drop weight or even worse make me even heavier... but like i said... gotta' think positive.

now ill officially be on the BIG 3. Ive already been on min and nizoral for the past 5 months or so. i welcome propecia to the family. id appreciate all the people who are having good success with propecia to maybe drop some advice. best time to maybe take it? adding any other supplements like L-argine (i plan on doing so)? working out tips? things like that....

my plan: keep what i got (hopefully regrow some)for the next 3-5 years. hopefully by then, ill be 28-30...

a) ill be at a point that losing my hair might not be such a big issue for me
b)more effective treatments with are available
c)hair restoration procedures are close to basically "curing" you (cloning)
d) theres a motherfriggensumabitchass CURE!!!!!!

either way.. i dont intend on taking propecia past 5 years. i just dont think it would be in my best interest to alter my natural hormones for an extremely long period of time. ok peeps, hit me up , i need the support and advice!

Ive been on propecia for 3months and 12 days.

I'm yet to judge whether it's working or not.

At 1st I was excited about the prospect, but believe me, the longer you are on it the more that will wear off.

And you'll become depressed that you're having to take this sh!t to begin with.

As I say, I'm 3 months 12 days on it, all I have to wait now is another 8months & 20 days for the final answer.

I wish I would have been prepared for this 2 years ago. I would never thought I'd go through such an appearance change due to hair loss.

Welcome to the rollercoaster ride that is Propecia.

It's become habit for me now... I forget whether or not i took ths stuff less than 5 mintues after I took it. And it's working wonders. I could take this stuff for the rest of my life and not feel any different about myself. Dedication is the key.

if i can deal with applying rogaine every day which basically reminds you of how much hair you have lost/losing, then im sure popping a pill aint ish'.

as far as i am concerned there are no side effects, i believe that most of the people with the side effects, are just in their head.

pop'em and worst case, you will dramatically slow down the loss

I have been on propecia for 6 weeks. I have already noticed a huge slowing in the amount of hair lost. No new hair has grown or anything, but I am VERY postitive about my outlook with this kind of response.

Well, you are are now a pledge member of LOOPY - the Loyal Order Of Propecia Yoosers. Remember, to be a good member in standing, you must never give away any positive feedback and must always over-dramatize any possible side effects. After you've been a member in good standing for 6 months, we will teach you the secret handshake....

Welcome, and good luck.

A large portion of folks can agree that it is more then 2%, and I can assure you its not just " in our head" At least not for alot of us.

Your claim for the greater than 2% figures are based on how many forum responses you have read, not on any statistical basis. The proportion of people who complain about side effects in forums is going to be *greatly* higher than those who reported in the clinical studies because the people who are most likely to be vocal on the internet are those who have had the worst experiences. In addition, many of the problems that people report are likely just psychosomatic or are caused by other factors (expeically in the cases of people claiming permanent impotentance after a week or two on Propecia).

That being said, there are side effects, but they happen only a fraction of the time and usually subside once the person stops the medication.

I met with a dermotologist who perscribes a lot fo Propecia and he said that, with over 300 patients that buy it from him, he's had 1, yes one, that has stopped because of a sexual side effect.

Hey guys, randomly remembered this post I made 18years ago… wow how time flies.
Well, just thought I’d let everyone know that I’m still on propecia. It pretty much saved my hair. I never really had any sides. It works. For anyone hesitant, give it a shot.

Thanks for updating. Always nice to hear from a past poster. Have you slowly lost ground after a certain amount of years. Any before and after photos?
