I am 28 years old and have been losing my hair since 26. I was probably losing it prior to 26, but it was not noticable due to my excessively thick hair. As a child I was the one with the poofy hair that could only be tamed through handfulls of hairgel. I noticed that my need for hairgel has decreased from a handfull to just a couple of drops, as too much of the stuff causes my scalp to become noticable around the temple areas. Fortunately with small amounts of hairgel my scalp does not show, at least not yet. After visiting this site several times over the past 3 months I realized that I am better off trying to prevent my hairloss, than reversing it. This is why I decided to immediately get on the big 3 (nizoral/finasteride/minoxidil), about 10 days ago. So far no sides but it is still early.
What I do want to point out are some of the warning signals that I experienced that in hind sight were clear signs that male pattern baldness was on its way. Around 17 years of age I realized that my sex drive was significantly higher than normal. I found myself constantly needing sexual satisfaction. Sometimes as much as 15 times a day. Around 19 years of age I began to experience severe acne which I caught immediately and treated with accutane. I eliminated this problem within 3 months and it never resurfaced. However, I am sure that if it went untreated, It would have been a major issue. At 21 years of age, I began growing large amounts of body hair everywhere I looked. I even began growing back hair. To this day i need to NAIR once a month to keep it all under control. I also found that I had a very easy time gaining muscle when ever I began lifting weights for an extended period of time. My muscle growth was so impressive that many wondered if I was on steroids. So I now stick to just cardio.
Obviously all of these signals are clear signs of high levels of testosterone. Which causes increased levels of DHT. If I knew then what I know now, I would of started Propecia a long time ago, prior to any signs of hairloss.
Has anyone else experienced similar warning signs pior to their hairloss?
