Hi,
I am a 38 year old who has got really high receded temples and this was obvious from a young age. I manged to keep my hair fairly thick and long that covered most of my hairline. In my mid 20's i was obviously starting to lose my hair which really freaked me out. I have always worried about going bald as I would not look good with a shaven look. I started taking oral finasteride at about 27 years old and it slowed my hair loss a lot. I was not really aware of the health issues around it.
I have always been a little shy around the bedroom so the loss in labido and weaker erections did not seem out of place but the difference in sperm was noticed although I just persisted until my breasts became sore and I stopped taking the finasteride. At this stage my hairloss was fairly stable although my hairline was still very high.

I then went through an awful period in my life when hairloss was not my biggest concern for once. After this I decided to get a small hair transplant to fill in the temples and hopefully give me the look I wanted. The hair transplant was a success and the Dr recommended I use minoxidil to maintain the hair around the new area.

After 2 weeks I started to use 5% minoxidil for the first time. My new hair was starting to look better by the week and finally I just started to get a little confidence and could go for a hairstyle not just a cover up. One day i noticed two spots behind my new hair and to my despair realised my hair was really thinning behind the hair transplant.

I suddenly now noticed that when applied the minoxidil lots of hairs came out ad also about 50 in the bath after each wash.

I had to do something so I stopped the minoxidil and started to look into topical finasteride as an alternative to oral. I found an Italian site and sent off my perscription and received my topical lotion. For the first 4 months I just kept losing hair at this new excelerated minoxidil rate that was starting to depress me. After 6 months I was going to stop when I noticed the amount of hairs drop to about 20 each application then suddenly a few weeks later just 3-4 each time.

For the past 6 months I think the loss has really slowed down and hopefully now stabilised without the sides from before although I am always worried and looking. I would not say I have had regrowth but at least it has stabilised and offers hope to others in a similar position.

I use a 0.25% finasteride Lip version (I also tried the recommended 1% version about 3 months ago and this gave me testicle pain so I have now smoothly reverted back to the 0.25% version).

I have never really discussed this with anyone before so I guess it's good to get it off my chest and I hope it helps someone.

I hope this isn't marketing for Farmacia Parati and a genuine report as we need as many positive reports of topical finasteride as possible, especially from those who couldn't handle the oral..

Anecdotal report for finasteride sides aren't helpful at this stage given how the drug behaves differently from person to person. There's literally people claiming sides on finasteride but not on dutasteride.

I had sides on 0.1% H&W liposomal finasteride, had breast nodules confirmed by my GP.

Had I known at the time I would have done before and after DHT tests but at this stage I'm not going back on finasteride cause I don't want tits. I find it ridiculous that H&W is pushing this topical liposomal finasteride but can't find 200$ and a user to get blood work done before and after a month of use. They have that skin permeation test so they can clearly carry out a scientific study, finasteride is already an FDA approved drug so there won't be many barriers, and they were literally prescribing it to their patients. So why not just do the damn blood tests?

Are you from the USA? I'm looking into liposomal finasteride and I really want to use it but I cant find it. I'm looking into getting my local compounding pharmacy to make it for me but they haven't made it before. How do you get yours?

I've been taking topical finasteride (the one from Paraci) for one month and as of now it's too early to tell about stopping hair loss and regrowth.

But one thing I can say.

I'm having no side effects whatsoever.
When I took oral finasteride I felt so bad I couldn't even think straight or put a sentence together. And my testicles ached. It was so bad.

No sides with the topical version but it's to early to say about how effective it is

What percentage are you taking and how often do you apply it?

Hi All,
I re-read my initial thread and although it may seem like a Marketing pitch I can assure you its not i'm just a normal bloke dealing with hair loss just like the rest of us. I was recommended the 1% version but opted for 0.25% which I doubted would work but after about 6 months seemed to slow my hair loss significantly. I wouldn't go for the 1% version to start with. It's hard to tell about sides I have noticed my Labido is low but I am also quite stressed at work and home so who knows. I think blood DHT levels would be a good idea as mentioned above but i'm in the UK and would not know where to get that done.
I am still hoping the Brotzu lotion will work but looks as if it has mixed feedback at the moment so hopefully this will maintain what I have before something better comes out.
