Topical finasteride and sides?

finasteride/dutasteride gave me great success when taking it orally. Unfortunately, after four years of use I got horrible sides and had to discontinue use.
I've heard that topical finasteride will yield the same sexual/gyno problems that taking it orally would, but I've also come across some stories of people using topical finasteride that have yielded the dht inhibiting benefits but have somehow managed to avoid limp dick and gyno?
Is this acutally possible? Anyone here had that kinda luck?

Never tired the topical finasteride, but have you tried to reduce dosage to avoid/minimize the sides? I am just curious.

Theoretically it is possible yes. DHT is believed to be converted and used within the cell. Therefore, applying finasteride topically will enable it to bind to the 5ar within the hair follicles, and stop DHT having a response. The interaction between 5ar + finasteride is basically permanent (until new 5ar is produced to replace it). But I suspect that blood DHT will still have some effect, hence topical finasteride probably will not be effective as oral finasteride.

The trick is basically to apply an amount of finasteride topically that even if all the finasteride was to enter the blood stream, DHT levels in other body parts would not be effected. That magic number is 0.1mg.

So, if you want to try a topical finasteride method, crush half a tablet of proscar (so 2.5 mg) and add it into your bottle of minoxidil (60 ml). When you apply your minoxidil in the morning, you'll be getting 0.04mg of finasteride through your hair. Note that this is a very very very high concentration for the surface area vs orally. Hopefully, by the time it percolates through your hair follicles, and skin, there won't be much left to give you side effects.

I've been on topical finasteride for a while now, and I think it has stabilised the loss. However, you are perfectly able to test topical finasteride, since if you quit oral finasteride you would normally have hellish shed. With topical finasteride, it may not occur at all. Please PM/post about it (if you choose the topical inf route) in a few months. I will be very interested!
