I'm 34 and start losing my hair around my 30. Never really cared too much, seeing I had a lot of hair when I was 30-32. When I turned 32 I noticed a thinning area on my crown, barely noticeable, but I freaked out.

Went to a dermatologist and she prescribed finasteride and Rogaine. I used oral finasteride for two-three months, stopped using it seeing it gave a pain in my testies. I continued with Rogaine, but stopped after 6 months. After that it became worse. Attached a few pictures of my crown.

3 months ago I started with again Rogaine, with the usually shed. Hair loss is now stabilised, when I wash my hair I have 2-3 hairs in my hands. Few months ago it were 15-25 hairs. Two months ago I also started with topical finasteride. Not that product made in India. I visited a leading hair transplant surgeon in my home country (Belgium, I'm an expat living Hong Kong), and he works together with a pharmacy to make topical finasteride. It's a 30g gel with 2.5% finasteride. So far no side effects at all, which is positive.

My hair is a bit longer so not that easy to apply the gel, seeing I dont really have full bald spots, yet.

My question, will topical finasteride and minoxidil be effective for my hair loss? I use Topical finasteride in the morning, and minoxidil in the evening. My doctor also told me to start using oral minoxidil. Both oral minoxidil and topical finasteride are only available with prescription, thank god my Doctor can send it from Belgium to Hong Kong.

I wanted a hair transplant, but the three surgeons I consulted told me its way too early for a transplant. Unless I want to lower my hairline a bit.

Anyone else experience with topical finasteride?

Try to search for other posts that include topical fina. I'm pretty sure ther's users of it here. As far as I understand, in the end topical goes systemic also. If u had issues w/ oral u may have same issues w/ topical.

I did, but very limited information. Not many people are using it.

My hair looks ok, in those pictures. When it’s wet you can see my scalp.

How shallow it may sound, my hair is too important to loose. It’s important for my job (international sales, i have to look good), and my confidence. That thinning area is making me insecure. I’m at a low point since last week.

Hopefully topical finasteride can help with it.
