Hello,

Since my hair loss got really really bad in the last couple of months, I've decided to try out micro-fibre concealer toppik. I've got my first toppik bottle delivered yesterday but I am absolutely clueless how to effectively apply it.

My desired hair style would be something like this:

But my front hair has totally thinned out, so the question is: Is hair style like above even possible with toppik? My temples are actually not too bad but unfortunately my front hair line is very thin in general. I've seen some amazing results with toppik, where one dude with virtually no hair got full head of hair. But I've no idea how to do that. I would appreciate any advices from experienced toppik users. My own hair is long enough to comb back but my density is just horrible...

Please help and thanks in advance!

Yes. Ironically, but logically, the better hair you've got the better result you will get with hair fibers. Hollywood uses hair fibers both as concealers and enhancers. When you see a celebrity and think "that's impossible hair", then 9 out of 10 it's normal hair+fibers.

Anyway, the basic way of applying toppik is using it as a salt shaker over your head. This is using it as a concealer for severe hairloss. There are several problems with this, though. The elements will totally destroy it right away. It's expensive, as you use a lot of what's in that tiny container. And you have minimal control of where it's actually applied.

As someone who has used toppik both as concealer and enhancer, you absolutely need the 'spray applicator' that they sell. You get insane control of where the stuff is applied and how much of it. It also allows you to work on a 'natural' looking hairline. You have to think of hair fibers as makeup or styling product rather than a concealer. Technically, any kind of makeup is also a concealer. You need precision, and for that you need that spray applicator sh*t they sell.

Hi Aldich!

Thank you very much for your reply. I guess then, I'll buy the spray applicator too. I've also seen some youtube videos where they give some tips how to apply micro fibre concealer. There, they use some kind of mousse before they apply toppik, and it gives them insane thick look. In last couple days I've now tried to apply toppik on my own, but I can't get that insane thick look like in the youtube videos. Something is missing...

The only downside that I've noticed is when the container is nearly empty. The spray has some troubles with picking up fibers from the very bottom. I'd say that when there's about 5-10% left in the container, the spray will be sluggish with picking up the fibers. But, just buy another container and you're all good.

Well, you can pretty much complement the fibers with any hair-styling products you want. I don't use them myself, but whenever I've occasionally tried it, I found it easier to apply other products and style the hair first, then add fibers. If you apply the fibers before other products and styling, a lot of the fibers will get stuck to your hands instead.
