For the past year and a half I have been taking tribulus to try and help get rid of my sides. I wasnt having any luck with it, so about 3 months ago i added zinc to my regimin and all of a sudden my libido came back. Thinking that the tribulus wasnt doing anything, I stopped taking it about a week ago. Now all of a sudden that boost in libido that i had for the past few months has gone away.....Do you think the tribulus was really doing something or is this all in my head because im paranoid about dropping it?

Are you taking just S5 cream? or finasteride also?

Tribulus has been proven to raise Testosterone and DHT levels significantly in primates and rabits and rats, lol

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18068966

So it seems it would be pretty useful at stopping sides by raising T/DHT and canceling out the some of the effect of 5AR inhibitors.

Obviously, I'm no expert, but if you're taking S5/finasteride and having sides, then I'd recommend either getting of them or continuing with Tribulus.

Are we talking about those cute furry creatures from Star Trek?
The way those things bred, I would imagine you would have an epic libido...

I was taking the tribulus to help with sides i got from saw palmetto. Is S5 supposed to cause sides too? Ive been using it for 8 months....you think its been interrupting my recovery?

Yeah S5 can cause sides too, they don't tell you that on many sites, but if you look at the sides effects of oral spironolactone, they're exactly the same as finasteride or dutasteride, and when you apply spironolactone topically it is inevitable that some of it get systematically absorbed.

It's really just a case of how sensitive you are too androgen blockers/DHT inhibitors. some people are too sensitive for finasteride but seem to be able to tolerate S5, but I on the otherhand am too sensitive for both and there are many other like me.

I think there's a chance it may have slowed your recovery. You should experiment by tapering down your spironolactone usage to see if sides lessen. If not, then you should continue to take Tribulus, it will have helped normalise your T and DHT levels after you got sides from Saw Palmetto and you may need to keep taking it while using S5.

damn I wasnt aware of that. Looks like im gonna be ordering more tribulus, and also cutting back a little on spironolactone. Maybe use it 5 times a week instead of 7 days a week. Sucks though cause i've been having some pretty good success with the hair recently.

I've been using spironolactone Cream for about half a year now and I don't think I have ever suffered from any side effects other than what's in my head. My libido always seems to be normal and I tend to overdo it whenever I apply spironolactone Cream. I'm still worried about side effects. I have gained a lot of weight in the past few weeks... Could it be because of spironolactone?? :dunno:

Yeah dude, just cut down a bit on the spironolactone and see if it makes a difference to your sides, also try to taper down Tribulus usage in the long run because it maybe that your body is becoming dependent on it to maintain normal T/DHT levels.

I don't think weight gain in general is a side effect, breast growth around the chest a.k.a. Gynecomastia can occur, but is uncommon.

Don't psyche yourself out about it though, if your libido is still fine, then you probably have nothing to worry about.

I think it's important to be wary of these anti-androgens though because unlike finasteride or dutasteride they don't have conclusive study data behind them, so we just don't know how safe they actually are.
