Regimen:

Topical Finasteride.5 4ml ED (2 months)
Oral Minoxidil 2.5 ED
Keto 2% 2x week

Diffuse NW1.5 heavy shed, long hair. I’m older (41). Still great coverage but thinning and miniaturization at the hairline and crown.

Urologist suggested the drop in T could also lead to hairloss and is recommending low dose androgel. DHT is low 27 and T dropped from 1100 two years ago to 710 August to 317 yesterday 2 months after starting propecia.

Thoughts on adding the TRT and maybe adding .5 ED oral Propecia with topical or w/o?

Did you mention to your doctor that you were using RU58841 for some time? Maybe it had an effect on your T level, I really don't know. Your current DHT level seems to indicate that a significant amount of the finasteride you apply topically goes systemic. Maybe it is worth trying oral finasteride instead of topical finasteride.

I didn’t but the drop 2 months after RU was small 70 units.

Feels like a lot of conflicting priorities which seems to be the story of hairloss and in my case getting older.

I’m going to keep going with the topical even though it clearly goes systemic.

My real question is about TRT. Would love to read some experiences or studies. I saw a few things that correlate lower T with the onset of male pattern baldness. Is there any potential that TRT could help hair?

Maybe a low T give you an increase rate of hair shedding, but I don't think low T accelerate the hair miniaturisation. Some men on this forum go with very aggressive regimen that greatly lower their T, and have great regrowth. I don't know :s, you're in a really tough situation.
I asked your question in the comment section of one of Dr. Prasad's video. I'm not a big fan of him, but at least he often answers questions in the comment section.

Trt sounds like a horrible idea bro, don’t even go near them yet.
Do you workout? Working out regularly can help boost your testosterone level naturally, see if that works out for you first

Yeah I lift daily and run marathons. The urologist thought it would help fight Propecia sides. I did about three weeks and it was like a set my hair on fire. I stopped and continue the topical finasteride but worried the damage is done.

Hey bluecyclone
He answered your question in the comment section as the following:
Hi gptoqkc, It is possible that low level testosterone therapy will increase your hair loss, because as testosterone levels go up, so does DHT. Your DHT-sensitivity level should be determined as you indicated you are 41, but don't indicate at what age your hair loss started. Usually, the younger your age of onset of hair loss, the higher your DHT-sensitivity. You should have it monitored by your doctor. I do recommend you take oral finasteride to control hair thinning and DHT-level as DHT is present in the bloodstream, so it is more effective to take oral finasteride rather than topical. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Thanks I’m considering a switch to oral.

I had crazy density and absolutely zero hairloss until I was 39/40. It’s closely timed with thyroid issue and medication. That now normal but the hair is definitely thinning and miniaturized. The first wave off hair loss was almost all normal thick hair. I don’t know if something became disrupted.

I’m active and anxious looking for answers as I read my best chance to save or regrow is within these first few years.
