Hi everyone,

I'm new here. I found this site, after searching around for side effects from saw palmetto usage.

I'd say about early-Fall last year I began taking Saw Palmetto capsules. I decided to hold off on taking Propecia. I had been on Rogaine for years prior. If I recall correctly, I took one capsule of Saw Palmetto a day and did begin to notice beneficial effects on my hair. Perhaps, it was all in my head, but my hair appeared to increasing slightly in density. There seemed to be more hair... nothing ridiculous, but a bit more. The only effect early-on seemed to be a bit of weight-gain and ever so slight decrease in sexual desire. The weight gain was actually not a problem for me, since I'm fairly thin. In fact, the weight-gain was somewhat welcome, although surprising... who knows, that may not have even been due to Saw Palmetto.

Anyway, by early-December, I noticed a lump on my chest (unilateral). I was scared since my sister just had gone through breast cancer. So, I immediately went to the Doctor. I eventually got an scan at the hospital... thank God, it wasn't cancer. It turns out it was unilateral gynecomastia. I had a hard lump, and from some reading afterwards, it seemed like a normal case of glandular gyno. The Doctor, and all the reading I did, both said, stop taking saw palmetto... and just wait a month to three and it will most likely go away. I did stop taking it.

Well, it's not April.... gyno is still there. It has changed a bit, but for the most part it seems exactly the same. The only difference, I can see is that the other side of my chest appears to have absolutely no gyno. Let me clarify, when I went to the Doctor, originally with the lump on one side, the other side simply had a bit of puffy nipple... that's it. No glandular gyno at all there. Anyway, few months later, the puffy nipple on that side is gone. That said, the gyno on the other side remains unchanged.

It should be noted the slight decrease in sexual desire remains an issue today as well.

I write all this here to see if anyone has gone through anything like this with saw palmetto... or anything else... is there any advice for me?

stop taking the saw palmetto and get on an AI... I remember a product I took called Rebound XT... I think they have Rebound Reloaded... its a weight lifting supplement that helps with gyno... it will prob increase your hair loss a little as it boosts test... not very androgenic though from what i remember
