Discussed here, here, and a rather informative thread on a different forum here.

To me, it sounds good. But we'll know a lot more in the fall.

i dont like to associate myself with any type economical system in use in today's world, i think they are all obsolete

one of the biggest problems today (with the US) is our foreign policies, while i dont pretend to have the answer to this problem i do know that someone (much smarter than me) paid by the government could come up with something better than capitalism or socialism, where politician's choices were not based on corporate CEO's and had no role in the economy, where competition between countries was non-existant and no country was stronger than the other in any aspect

You are falling for the shell game here. Politicians (all of them) work for themselves. They have a great game going. The middle man collects the 20% and the rest of us just shrug.

Don't look for the pea. It is not under the shell, but it is in Senator Kennedy's pocket.

one only has to look at the US's alliances for the past 50-60 years and see that the US makes strikes and forms alliegance to/on other countries when the capitalist or politicians are in favor of it, not for the benefit of the people of America

Well, that is debatable ad naseum. Since I am a capitalist (one who favors a capital driven economy) I can't be objective. But, since the citizens of the US are arguably the most well off in the history of the planet, we cleary are getting some benefits from the economic and political system we have here.

Of course, compared against some perfect system that you may have dreamed up, well I don't know. I will leave that up to you.

BTW- a shell game is when you are looking for the wrong thing and the com man is relying on it!

well im sure many people in european countries would claim they are just as well off, if not better, than americans, while i dont have any proof (never looked into it) im sure if you were too look at jobs per capita and homeless per capita of countries like sweden, england, and the netherlands you might be suprised

the history of the US's actions are debatable, but lets look at the facts of some past conflicts

Iran/Iraq war, we allied saddam hussein and iraq, giving them weapons and training EVEN THOUGH they were doing the same things then as they are doing now, Iran was more of a threat of not helping America with its oil supply so we allied saddam

The chechnians, when were fighting the soviet union (during the cold war) America declared the fighting between russia and the chechnians was racially motivated genocide against the chechnians, now that russia is one of the members of the EU criticizing the US's trade taxes and military uses we want them to make less noise, so now we label the chechnians as terrorist

Afghanistan, same war different situation, of course when our enemy was russia we allied the taliban and osama bin laden(and once again they were still doing the same things they are doing today)

there are several more instances where coincidences like these have occured, now i know george bush jr cannot be held responsible for the past but the same situations seem to be repeating

now while i appreciate alot of bush's domestic plans and policies you cant help but doubt his attitude/actions towards the rest of the world (i think his withdrawl from the kyoto protocol is the perfect example of bad decisions based on the infliction it would cause on capitalist)

i am greatful to live in America but i think an attitude shared by many americans, (not implying you bruce or anyone else, just a generalization) is, that questioning the greatness of America is absurd and forcing yourself to be oblivious to anything but propaganda is the way to prove the world wrong

sorry about mildly ranting, i get kind of serious with politics :)

I am not going down this road. I love living in the US and we make our share of mistakes, much like any other country.

We are neither as great as some folks think, nor the root of all evil as others think.

As an economic and military engine, I would not get in the way of the USA. You can debate the "rightness" of foriegn policy till the cows come home, which by the way, is about 6PM Central time!

Pass the beer nuts!

Is it just me, or has there been a serious tendency for threads to go way off topic as of late?

Seems like quite a bit of this stuff belongs in the much neglected 'off topic' forum.. In fact, theres been very little discussion about actual hair loss recently

I agree wholeheartedly and it is a little frustrating at times.

So, what are you wearing?

i agree that a hairloss forum with no hairloss threads is quite pointless, but, keeping the forum going requires an active community, and an occasional post or thread off topic is probably better than no communication at all?

I could go off topic on Anna K. any old time. In fact, she is going to be down the street from me at the end of the month. Ah, Anna!
