Well, I'm 18 years old and have been losing hair a little bit over a year. Some of you guys may have read my other posts, in which I said I have a pretty bad case of seberroheic dermatitis.

Anyway, after running my hands through my hair very lightly at about 9:30 pm, I had around 60 hairs fall out. My scalp then got so itchy and I got so worked up over the rapid shed, that I decided to take a shower and use my Nizoral 2%. During the shower, about another 20 hairs fell out. After the shower, I'd say another 10 hairs. So, in the course of about 20 minutes, I lost 90 hairs. Typical hair loss PER DAY is only 50-100. How can I possibly lose that amount in 20 MINUTES???? I can't possibly imagine how many hairs I lost throughout the whole day today, if I could lose 90 in 20 minutes at the end of the day! IM FREAKING OUT!

Marksb11,

I wish I had some answers for you my friend. I did a yahoo search and came along this link http://www.aafp.org/afp/20000501/2703.html
You probably know all the info in there if you've had seb derm for some time. Maybe there's something in there that you haven't tried and it may help.

Look at this post...

I think you should look into alternative therapies rather than relying on going to the dermatologist! If you don’t understand that there is no cure for Seb Dermatitis and using Steroids and other harsh cleansers basically due more damage than cure! Steroids are thought to be a cause of Steroid use can cause steroid-induced rosacea, adult rosacea and acne rosacea. Using all those cleansers and shampoos on a daily basis basically strips your skin of natural oils and makes your skin more alkaline and as a result your skin condition worsens after the initial temporary relief! -Normally ones skin should be slightly acidic!

My suggestions:
1. Modify your diet to reduce the meat intake from processed foods to other junk foods! Try to increase your intake of raw foods like fruits, vegetables, and beans! -Do a Search on the internet on "RAW FOOD DIET" and its health benefits to the skin and overall well being!

2. Supplement your diet with EFA (essential Fatty Acids) - something like Udo's Choice Oil Blend which help moisturize your skin from the inside out and help with eczema like conditions!
http://www.udoerasmus.com/articles/udo/fthftk4_pv.htm

3. Go to the vitamin store and buy some Betaine HCL (Hydrochloride) - which is hydrochloric acid supplements which is supposed to increase the acidity in your stomach which helps with digestion and kills bacteria which is thought to main cause of skin problems! -Bad Digestion and over proliferation of bad bacteria in the digestive track is known to cause eczema and dermatitis!

4. Go to the health store (whole foods) and buy some Organic Apple Cider Vinegar - something like Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar Raw, unfiltered.
|. Put 1 tablespoon in 32 ounces of water and add some honey because it tastes like sh*t and drink twice a day! -Same theory applies here about increasing acidity internally which helps with digestion and absorption of vitamins as well as killing off bad bacteria internally!

||. For the Scalp you can also use Raw Apple Cider Vinegar which you can read about here:
http://www.uses-for-vinegar.com/dandruf ... emedy.html
Or
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/se ... s-support/

5. Buy a 100% pure Jojoba oil (Desert Essence brand) - and put this on your scalp right after you shower or even add it to your sh4mpoo or condition3r!

-if you want to chat IM me on yahoo = borosp

Apparently things like penuts, almonds, cashew nuts etc are good for people with dermatitis. Don't believe me go and see a nutrutionist or do some reading on the subject.
