Using daily Rogaine with out washing hair for several days?

I just started using Rogaine and I've been applying it on the same spots that I use Rogaine the day before without washing my hair for several days. Does it make a difference at all to apply Rogaine where there are is remanence of dry Rogaine from previous application? Or will not make a difference either way? Also some advice I've heard about when applying Rogaine is not to rub it in too much. better by applying it and letting it soak in and absorb
