what are peoples opinions of the affect/impact a vertex has a on a young 20 something man over that of receeding line or a thinning crown.

i know people play down bald spots becuase it doesnt afect the front of the face, but maybe a receeding line is better than a vertex?

i mainly think this becuase bruce willis does blockbuster moveis witha NW3 hairline but people with bald spots tend to become social jokes even though bald spots dont disfigure the face in the same manner as a NW3.

Bald spots more frequently commented than just hairline. Because hairline can simply go for a "mature hairline" or just massive forehead. But bald spot is seen as definite baldness. That's from my own experience.

It depends entirely on the person's head shape.

If you have a small forehead, yes most people will assume your NW2-3 hairline is just "mature" because aesthetically it looks fine and will be proportional to your face.

However, if you have a massive somali-style forehead like me, then you'll probably have spent your whole childhood and early teens trying to make your hair and headshape look normal... and that's before male pattern baldness even started kicked in.

Now with my NW3 hairline, it doesn't matter if someone thinks I'm going bald or that I just have a massive forehead because either way it just looks really weird (socially unacceptable) because there is absolutely no proportion, just a load of thick growing hair at the back and sides which skews it even more.

I would take mild recession and crowd thinning any day over this, once I progress to NW4 it's either shave it all off or go for the Larry David look, no proportion there whatsoever.

Both look better shaved down than an nw5 shaved down. Give me recession or give me a bald spot IDK, it's more hair than I've got.
