Im nearing month 15 and the hair is really coming in now. A little history, I started with 1/4 Proscar daily and Nizoral 2 times per week. I noticed improvement and thickening around 3 months. The very front and top responded the best while crown responded less. I added minoxidil around month 5 and a month later I had improvement right in front of the ears with that area pushing forward.

I noticed a bunch of thick vellus on the right temple and just 'some' vellus on the left. Things stayed the same till month 8 or 9 and then things started slipping. So. from month 8 till months 13 -14, things were bad with shedding and my hair looked like crap and pretty thin again (still better than baseline though). I jumped on Dutasteride at month 13 and a half. The vellus hair on the right temple has shed but there are new small terminal hairs growing right above that area.

There is tons of dark vellus and new terminals on the left temple as well and my temples have thickened back up. Up top are TONS of prickly small hairs in between the longer hair. I also had a big patch of dark 'hair dots' that felt like stubble on the left temple closer to the front. All of that has grown into dark vellus hairs.

2 months from now, I know things are going to be looking really good since Ive been through this already. Im not sure if it was the Dutasteride, or if I was just on the rebound, but you can betim not going back to the Proscar.

So, if 1 year passes you by and you dont get results, dont give up! It takes a looong time for new hair to come in. 14 -15 months is a better timeframe to know if its going to work for you. Just dont give up the fight.

i believe it. i'm sure his mirror has better resolution than his camera. the camera would only help his memory. It would be nice to see just how much it improved.

I wish I had not put my research off so long. i really want to go to the gym now. i have much more control over that than my hair. now that my hand recovered from my recent roller blade crash and the back of my head is a bit more healed.

well, it's 'improving' as the new shorter hair is catching up with the longer hair. Ill get my digi camera out of the shop before too long.
