Hi Guys

I am considering starting Finpecia due to the success stories on this site as my hair loss is very similar to some that have responded well, I am only receeding at the front but its starting to get to the stage that if I dont do something soon I will have to shave it off as it will look stupid. I dont want to do this as I like my hair and I think I wouldnt really suit the shaven look as my ears stick out a bit :hump:

Now a few weeks ago I was doing a bit of research as you do on the internet regarding Finasteride and I came across http://www.propeciahelp.com/forum/

Naturally this site scared the sh*t out of me and I decided I would not be willing to risk losing my penis for my hair and Im sure any normal male wouldn't want that either. Can anyone help me with this, have any of you guys experienced these side effects and once you have quit finasteride have the effects subsided? Some of the guys on that site are saying even 2-3 years after giving the drug up they are still suffering!

I also read on another forum that one guy said he had success with finasteride by taking 1mg every 4 days and this regrew hair and got rid of all the side effects. Any views on this?

Thanks for you help

:)

Honestly, I just stopped Finpecia, (Generic Propecia), a week ago after four months of using, I notice a huge difference. I actually think about sex now, which was gone when I was taking Finpecia, plus, I was starting to get breast pains, it was too much for ME. For you, it might be different, maybe you wont get any side effects, but they are more common than Merck says, that's for sure. I mean, how many %2's can there be? It's fishy imho.

Try it for a few months, if you can't take it, then quit. Remember though, it's not magic, your hair still might turn to crap after using every treatment out there. Nobody here will tell you you wont get sides, because nobody knows if you will, it's all up to you.

That site is insane! I'm still going to try it though. If I get bad sides I'll stop it. If I don't I'll continue. We'll see what happens.

I agree. I'm in the same boat, early stages of hairloss (I'm 25) and considering finasteride. I keep going back and forth. finasteride seems like a total roll of the dice, for some it works wonders with no sides, for others the side effects sound like a living nightmare thousands of times worse than losing hair. And a fair number report being on finasteride for years with no problems, but once they get off, that's when the sides hit.

Thanks for the replies guys,

Problem is Im now more confused than ever :D

Might just give it a go and take 0.5 every 2 days for a couple of weeks and see what happens,

any more advice would be great though :)

Anyone who is too paranoid to try it will almost certainly get side effects but it will probably be a case of them convincing themselves.
I've tried Propecia, Avodart and I'm now using Proscar I had no qualms about trying them and as far as I can tell I have'nt had any side effects.

I totally agree with saf, some of the users were being way too paranoid.

If one is experiencing the side effects, and being paranoid will just make them twice worse.
