What are the issues with going from minoxidil to a hair transplant?

It looks like I am just starting to thin out at the crown area. While there is still hair in the area is it thinner than the other areas of my hair. If I comb the hair directly up, it looks like there is full coverage (you can't see any scalp) but because of the way I brush my hair it parts in different directions revealing the thinning. Pics:

Now, I planned on getting a hair transplant in a few years (at the most 2-3 years from now) to fill in my temples and square off my hairline to NW0. I never planned to do any fill in to my crown but now I'm thinking I may need to.

The question I had was are there any issues with starting minoxidil even though I plan a hair transplant in a few years? I'm thinking if I start taking it and have a full crown 2-3 years down the road the doctor won't know how much to transplant into the crown (I didn't plan on using it on the hairline on temples so that will be easy). Would I just need to stop taking it for a few months prior to the transplant and let it fall out? What I am scared of is if I start taking it and stop it might actually leave a real bald spot rather than just thinning like now.

EDIT: For some reason it doesn't display but I'm 27 and will be 28 in a few months.
