What are your side effects on dutasteride, if any?

I have not seen a thread that consolidates what dutasteride takers are experiencing. In a post I wrote before Christmas, I said I had a scratchy throat. I would like to read other people's experiences and side effects on dutasteride.

I had a nasty cold when starting avodart. I flew home for Christmas shortly after and my ears had terrible pressure as well, unlike I have ever experienced. So, I stopped taking avodart the day before christmas just in case it was causing this problem. I remembered the talk about bloating happening on dutasteride so I acutally bought some Midol and it helped with my ears. Go ahead and laugh, but I was f'ing miserable! The throat thing stuck around until 12/29/06.

The side effects were gone so far as I could tell so I started taking avodart 0.5mg daily on 1/8/07 again. On 1/9/07 sure enough, the scratchy throat, ear pressure and sinus congestion is back, but not as bad. I probably caught a cold at the same time as starting avodart in december. I am not imagining these side effects, I only hope they go away quickly because there is no way I could live with them.

i do have a reduced urge to procreate. it kind of creeps up on you but its manageable at 3x a week. i kind of have good and bad days with it so i might switch to one in three days and see if it makes a difference.
i had no sides on finasteride at all.

Even at once per week, and occasionally swapping between .5mg finasteride a day, or every 2nd day, and dutasteride once a week. I shouldn't really do this, i know, it's lazy and stupid

Anyway, i haven't lost any hair, despite all the changes, going off finasteride and onto dutasteride, and vice versa, taking dutasteride only once per week, etc.

Sex drive and erections, changed a bit, but probably just co-incidental long term. I do know for sure there were changes to begin with.

Unfortunately i get occasional abdomenal discomfort, burping and chest pain from these drugs. Swapping between them seems to stop this, and im not losing hair i dont think, but I know I need to stop this.

Possible brain fog

Gyno. I've definately got some of this happening on my left nipple, this is what my weird chest pain turned out to be. Its strange though since i burp lots and gurgle when I get the pain, as well, which is what made me think it wasn't in my nipples but deeper.

It's not noticeable usually. On a bad day from certain angles it could be seen as gyno, otherwise it's definately a big nipple, sometimes saggy. It hurts there occasionally, and i can feel a bump. I get this from .5mg of finasteride a day, and dutasteride once a week.

This is what I really need - a safe way to stop gyno, if there is one. Otherwise i could try quit dutasteride/finasteride, but I dont want to lose my hair. Who knows though, maybe the proxiphen is doing something, i haven't lost my hairline hair.

I don't know what is wrong with me then.

I wake up congested with phlegm in my lungs (I know, ick)
Well I will stick it out for as long as I can, I want to see if I can regrow some hair.

3 weeks on dutasteride and counting
