Hi all, i have been a long time reader and i just started my big3 regiment a few weeks ago. Actualy i started with the foam and nizoral because i just received my original proscar today.

The thing is i ordered them from pillsforall.com and they send the 2 strips of 15 pills raped in some news paper. They were out of the box (the box was there but empty).
Now i want to make sure that they are not fake pills. I did a research and found that proscar pills are blue. The ones i received are white and there is nothing writened on them.
Oh yea if i look at the serial number of the box, it matches the one on the box. The strips seem well sealed.

Did i get the right pills ?

Thank you in advance for your help !

P.S. Excuse my english, i am french...

Why don't you e-mail the website that you bought them from? That would be pretty logical rather than wait around here for an answer. The owner of that site posts on Hairlosshelp all the time so why don't you register there and PM him. His name is Guillermo and from what I've heard is a pretty good guy.

I think Merck have ceased to manufacture Proscar since the patent expired last year. The FDA approved generic is simply called "finasteride" and is made by Teva, an Israeli company.

On the box it clearly says merck and the serial number on the box matches with the one on the sealed pills.
The pills are white and round.
Even if i email the company or talk to guilermo, i dont think they would tell that they are generic or fake.

Im still unsure about if they are original, generic or fake...
No one here takes proscar from Merck ?
come on guys :)

Maybe merck makes a different shape of pills for other countries like argentina. Because on the box it says merck and everything is writen in spanish.

David, like I said before anyone who's bought finasteride recently will have bought a generic (unless they got old stock), for the simple reason that Merck no longer manufactures Proscar. The patent expired last year - generics are now the only things on the market. In the US, the licensed generic is made by Teva, and in the UK, by MXP (I think).

Yes i know what you said but then if your right, this means that pillsforall do fake advertising.
Because the even put serial numbers on the seals that contain the pills with the box made by merck.

The pills i receive expire in feb 2009.
