Basically i'm new to this forum, and unaware of the best possible option for my situation, but am very serious about doing something before it's too late. My situation is that i'm 32, and ive started to recede about 4 or 5 years ago, but it's not to bad, and i'm starting to thin out up top. It's really not too bad at the moment but I know I must do something as soon as possible.

I have been on a hair loss shampoo for about 1.5 years(vivagen), and that's about it. I dont think its working though. My goal is not only to maintain but to regrow even where i'm receding, if that's at all possible.

Should I go for Propecia, and Rogaine?? or just one of them??, or should I wait a couple of years and get transplants?? What do you sincerely think would be my best option. Like I said i'm not too bad but the last couple of years in particular ive noticed myself losing more than I ever have.

Get on the big three: Propecia (or 1/4 Proscar to save money), Nizoral shampoo (or TGel) every 3rd day, and Rogaine 5% (or some other brand, really doesn't matter.

And read this site. It's FULL of info. But the above is the summary you will get from your reading, so do those things ASAP.

My immediate recommendation would be Nizoral shampoo every three days, and Finasteride (Propecia). If you are dead set on regrowing, then you are going to have to begin a Minoxidil habit as well. Second vote for the big three.

Drop that vivagen crap. Waste of money.

Use the Nizoral every three days and on off days use a non-medicated shampoo of your liking.

Good news - typically, the later you start losing, the less you will probably lose overall.

Your regimen should be:

Minoxidil
Finasteride (Propecia)
Nizoral shampoo.

Where do i get this Nizoral at, and is this a general type of shampoo with many different name brands or is this the specific name of the shampoo I would need??

Another vote for the big 3. finasteride, minoxidil, and Nizoral. You can probably get Nizoral from your local drugstore or supermarket. It'll say Nizoral right on it. There's only one. Can't miss it. It should be next to the other dandruff shampoos. That's usually where I get mine. Go to a derm that has experience with hair loss (not all do) for your Propecia prescription.
Take some "before" pictures. So you have something to grade your progress with.
Good Luck,
