i was on propecia for 13 mo. i noticed a change in my hair a few months in--it was changing, i thought for the better, i was wrong. i seemed to have shed, on the time i was propecia, almost all my healthy hair and regrew thin sh*t hair. long srtory short i have ended up with a head that is 70% composed of thin hair-- all of the top, around the ears and sides extending to the back. this exretmly evidnt right now since i shaved my head. it looks like i have a fade but i buzzed it all with a 1 setting it seems like i have every hair on my head they are just grey and thin unlike the few healthy hairs i have that are a thick dark brown/black. im 20 yeasr old. what happednd to me, did i have the HR reaction to the finasteride, am i anemic?? i thought i was balding but ive lost no hair and dont have a bald spot and my hairline is maintaing,i just lost thivkness of the individual hairs. this all happened during the time i was on propecia. im taking rogaine 5% to hopefully get the hairs thicker agin. any opinions??

this is very unusual. maybe it isn't male pattern baldness that you have. i would see a derm if i were u. and i'm truly sorry to hear about what happened to u but i hope this won't put people off from finasteride since it's very unusual for finasteride to cause this. in fact, im not too sure it was the finasteride that caused it for u.

u said it was thin even around the ears and in the back. male pattern baldness doesn't affect those areas!
