You know, just to give our body a little rest.....something like 1 month off for every 6 you are on...or I don't know, it could be more, or less...but obviously the months you are on would always have to be more that the months you are off....

And what about the theory that .5g works just as 1g....any truth in that ?

Thanks

..... even if it was only one month out of every 6 months ?

Didn't they say that once you stop taking it, it would take 12 months for your results to completely disappear ?

If that is true, then 1 month off every six should't create too many problems, don't you think ?

I just feel that we should give our bodies a little time to get balanced on their own every now and then. Messing up with hormones is always a tricky thing to do.

YOu could say "hey but look at how many bodibuilders are perfectly fine today...look at Arnold, he's a governor now..." and I agree, but they always cycled their sh*t, in other words, the gave rest time to their bodies to recover a bit.....while propecia is every single day....

I don't know...I just feel that since DHT was shown to be also important for brain function, we shouldn't keep contstantly fighting it and instead we should give it a break every now and then......

who knows.....may college could help....

first of all you're talking about type I DHT I believe. Secondly, I don't believe there are any studies saying that type I DHT is important for brain function. I think all we know is that type I Dht is found in the brain. finasteride blocks a miniscule amount of this.

I think it would depend on how aggressive your hairloss was. For slow hairloss, maybe not a big deal but for aggressive hairloss, you would probably suffer. There may be some benefit to give your body a rest but honestly I have never felt that I needed to detox from the meds. I have had good success with it on a continual basis.

If you were to consider it, try a few days, then a week but not much more unless you want to risk destroying any results you have obtained.

it's better to take smaller dosages every day than it is to go off finasteride for a month.

Ask someone who tried it... a lot of people on this forum do it and they are marinating their hair this way. I am not a propecia user and i don’t know a lot about it but I have read a lot of posts about people cycling propecia. And some other got off propecia after 1 or 2 years of use and then used spironolactone and other topical for maintenance HairLossTalk.com is one of them.

With all my respect to JayMan posts and opinions, but the guy just pop up in every new post give his opinion in everything as if it’s the only way...

i never said it was the only way. i just said it's detrimental to your hair to take a month off. finasteride has a very short half-life.
