Hello all! I am a 29 year old male and started noticing my hair thinning and receding at around 26. Later this week, I plan to introduce myself and post my story in the "Tell Your Story" forum. However, I need to make some appointments ASAP and have a few questions about doctors.
BTW: So far, I've only visited my primary care physician who simply said that he could write me a prescription for Propecia. Despite it being the most effective treatment out there, I don't want to take Propecia. I am also aware of Rogaine and Nizoral and may be interested in using them. Although Nizoral seems to be extinct these days.
My Questions:
NOTE: You can PM me if it is against policy to recommend a specific doctor on the forums.
Thanks in advance! I look forward to learning more and apologize if these questions sound foolish!

My Questions:
- What kind of doctor can I visit to examine my scalp under magnification in order to assess the degree of miniaturization of the hair follicles? One website I visited suggested an "experienced medical hair loss expert" who can examine a scalp using device called a densitometer. Does any here know of any good doctors in Manhattan?
- What kind of doctor can I visit to discuss future hair transplant options? Will this be the same "medical hair loss expert" I am inquiring about in my question above? And does anyone have any recommendations?
- Finally, are there any recommended barbers in Manhattan who are experienced at giving haircuts to men with receding, thin hair?
