I'm starting out on a training programme and will be looking to supplemnt with a protein drink, there are lots on the market, with lots of different mixes and ingredients. I was wondering if anyone new what, if any, ingredients should be avoided.
I'm looking at Maximusle's "Progain", with ingredients such as Whey protein, Amino Acids, MCT's, BCAAs, Glutamine and essential fatty acids. From previous experience I will be avoiding creatine, but I just wondered if anyone new if there was anything else that might be detrimental to hair health.
Thanks in advance to any response.

if i were taking anything i would be taking a minimal amount.

excess protein in the body puts a strain on your kidneys and liver, and this could lead to other problems.

i don't know about hair, but for other reasons, i would avoid artificially sweetened products, i.e. those containing aspartame or sucralose.

thanks Billy The Kid,
but what would be classed as an excessive amount of protein?

Take the product that you would have taken if you had lived 100 years ago: nothing.

Your muscles won't shrivel up and die if you don't drink whey protein.

i agree with rakbs.

daily rda is around 60gm. most people are getting above this.

but, you seem pretty keen on doing this.

so just start off small, i really think less is more.

10-20g /day protein supplement would be the optimal amount in my mind.

also, i would avoid supplements with soy protein
