After lurking on the forums for a while I'm finlly going to start my hairloss treatment. As it's not so bad all I really want to do is maintain so I need a dht blocker. Anyway after reading about so many varieties of Finasteride which one is the best to use? Could really use the advice!

Also is it worth adding minoxidil for the hell of it? Will that help strengthen my hairline? I know that has nothing to do with Finasteride...

I think there is no difference, except the quanity you get. Like you can get Fincar at 5mg tablets and split them into 1/4s and save money.

I use Finax - it's dr. reddy's form of it, and it's not too expensive. i THINK i ordered it from united pharmacies, but I could be wrong.

If you can get a script for Proscar from your Doctor, you would able to get it from any local pharmacy and split it into quarters. All the different versions of finasteride should be the same though, although there are those that are skeptical of receiving drugs from overseas.

Propecia is the "official" stuff and is made by Merck. Proscar is also made by Merck but comes in 5mg tablets and is a treatment for BPH.

There are various generic versions of Propecia.

If I was looking to save money, I would go with the Merck stuff and buy Proscar and then split the tablets into 1/4s or 1/5s.

I'm sure the generics/indian stuff is 100% fine, but personally I'd rather play it safe :)

So, any brand would be fine as long as it's finastride?
The difference is the price and quantity?
Cheapest and more tablets per box is the way to go?
