Hello everyone, I am 19 years old, been on minoxidil 5% for almost 8 months now and although my results started out really good, it is slowly fading and I have come to realize that minoxidil and nizoral won't save my hair alone, I NEED A DHT INHIBITOR......

BUT

the problem is that my doctor won't allow me to get on propecia because he says im too young (I'll be 20 early next year) and says im still growing and it'll mess my body up.

so my question to you guys is what is the greatest dht inhibitor that doesnt involve finasteride??

folligen??

please help....

Topicals wise, an anti-androgen like spironolactone or fluridil is your best bet.

Try some saw palmetto oral, 400mg/d, it's worth a shot!

Two prominent doctors, Dr. Lee being one of them say that Azleic acid will reduce 90% of the DHT in your scalp.

Dr lee's Xandron 5 and 15% contain Azleic acid combined with minoxidil. He says that Xanadrox combined with 2 or 5% spironolactone has the greatest percent of dHT being blocked in the scalp. This is a great topical regimen, which i will be using, being 19 myself.

Crinagen which is said to work well also contains Azleic Acid. Although it is sticky and smella a bit.

Get Lee's 5% Xandrox BV free and some spironolactone 5% cream- you should do fine. Dr. Lee really likes Azleic acid.

People, read the treatments section of this site. It'll answer a lot of your questions.

Also, there are no studies actually indicating that azelaic acid will help maintain or regrow hair. That's not to say it has no benefit. There just isn't enough evidence to indicate whether it works or not.

Most people here recommend spironolactone for people in your situation. An azelaic acid treatment may help too.

I don't know of any reason to expect Folligen to inhibit 5a-reductase. Where did you get the idea that it did?

Again, if you read the main parts of this site you will realize that folligen does not inhibit DHT. Folligen is a popular item here because it was developed by the same person who developed Tricomin and uses the same active ingredient. Tricomin passed the Phase II FDA trials but never went to Phase III.

Folligen is more along the lines of a groth stimulant.
