When they say finasteride is primarily a maintenance drug, does this include hair weights as well? I understand that "regrowth" isn't the greatest possibility while on Propecia, that is to say the actual re-birth of visible hairs from bald spots or vellous hair. But what about if you already have all the hair there, it's just about 50% of its original weight? Does Propecia still just maintain the hair in this state, or does it do a better job at thickening these individual hairs than it does actually regrowing them?

Thanks for any replies once again.

It allows existing hairs to do a reverse miniaturization process. Miniaturization includes recycling in of hairs in a thinner, shorter, less pigmented way. Propecia free's them up to recycle in thicker, longer, and more pigmented (after several cycles). I believe over time it can even do this with hairs that are too small to see, which may give the impression of new hair regrowth.
