Which Treatment Worked For Everyone Else But Not For You?

Let's face it, hairloss treatment is a f*****g mystery and what works for the other guy doesn't work for you. So, share which treatments those are.

For me, Nizoral has never worked. It just makes me shed like crazy and I never see regrowth with it. It dries out my hair and makes it unmanageable. I know this as I've done my current treatment with and without Nizoral, and the results were clearly different.

Nizoral just makes my hair feel like sh*t aswell. Just using it once a week and no longer than 2 minutes before rinsing since it's a scalp killer for me.

Has anyone ever really claimed nizoral made a difference? The studies on it were tiny and the positive results even tinier - but in terms of density, not success rate, which was fairly considerable.

I now only wash my hair with shampoo once a week and it's with nizoral, and nope it's not greasy, you just have to ween yourself off a daily wash. I never have shedding for more than a brief day here and there, but it used to be a week or two like most people.

Just wash it with water, that's all.

Finasteride kept it. Then lobbying groups prevented you from buying it online with a credit card. With a hectic work schedule it was hard for me to get an appointment with a dermatologist, when I finally did she basically told me to deal with it. Went off for almost two years. Big mistake. I had diffuse thinning/some crown loss, but it still looked decent. After being off I got hit with temple recession (which I never had) and more diffuse thinning. sh*t goes quick. I wear hat a lot now, which I never did before. Sucks.

It's amazing if you have seborrheic dermatitis which can affect the condition of your hair. It can't hurt to use it as an adjunct with finasteride.
And if I didn't wash my hair for a week it would be a greasy mess. Guess everyone is different.

You still wash your hair guys, just with water. Just spend a minute thoroughly massaging through hot water, same as with a normal wash but no shampoo, there are other things like apple cider vinegar, baking soda, but I never bothered with this.

I've heard of this "No Poo" (shampoo) thing from women before, and once actually I was taking pictures of my diffuse thinning so I wet my hair under hot water, after drying it I realised it looked a lot better, softer and fluffier (which helps sh*t loads for diffuse thinning), not as dried out, and I thought it was just a once-off thing until I did it a few times more. Then it went from there, it took only a few months to get down to a weekly nizoral wash.

If you've been shampoo'ing daily all your life then you can't stop just like that, but maybe every other day, then every 3rd day, just play it by ear, whenever your hair starts to look greasy try washing it, if it's still greasy half an hour after drying, then shampoo it, that time period is currently your limit.

I know a lot of people's fleeting reactions is "LOL greasy headed telling me to put baking soda on my skull!" but my hair's never been so consistent, continue having dry days and greasy days if you will.

Just look it up, if more people knew then shampoo would be a thing of the past.

Man I actually would really like to wash my hair a lot less, as when I've gone a few days without a wash my hair tends to look way more aesthetic, but I worry about obstructing minoxidil absorption to the scalp if I were to do this

You using minoxidil twice a day? Do you feel it's working just fine even though you aren't doing a regular scalp cleaning with shampoo?

I use minoxidil twice a day, and I don't understand really why anyone thinks shampoo makes this a "scalp cleaning" anymore than not using it. I work out so I actually clean my hair twice a day (minoxidil not applied within an hour beforehand of course) and massage it a bit, but mainly just stand under the shower head while I wash the rest of myself, that's like a few minutes of a constant stream of water cleansing over my scalp, I don't see how anyone could think you'd need some way of possibly cleaning it even more than that?

With longer hair it gets more complicated and case-by-case, with regards to the oils your scalp produces and how they stay in your hair, but if you have relatively short hair, you can't clean it much more than rubbing it for a minute and then a 2 minute rinse while you wash the rest of yourself.

Oh and again, you still wash your hair man, just don't use shampoo every single time. Rub your fingernails through your scalp, there should be no issues with minoxidil absorption (and if you're saying you don't wash your hair for a few days, like at all, no water or anything, then that's not good).

This is getting frustrating.

Two years ago I tried a keto shampoo, Triatop, legit imitation of nizoral which has become available here only lately.

It made my hair look like sh*t.

Keto shampoos are extremely chemical and aggressive.
All that keto does is offset by the aggressive sh*t they put into the shampoo.
Keto should be applied everyday yet using keto shampoos everyday is like dumping your hair in chemical waste.
Not a good idea in my opinion.

funny thing about nizoral/keto is that prolonged use actually causes hairloss as a side effect - look it up, not making this up. basically long term use of keto is linked to hairloss; wtf

This thread did make me research keto again yesterday, and lol'd at a common side effect "may cause hair loss".

I'd really like to know a lot more about keto because from what I understand, if you don't have visible scalp irritation, if you don't have skin issues or dandruff, that's pretty much all it's there to help with. If you don't have those issues, I am not convinced it's doing anything. I'll keep using it and everything, but even when I first bought it, I didn't think this would make a huge difference.

If anyone has anything to prove me wrong on that, or why I should use it more than once a week as this is suggested (maybe 2-3 times a week is recommended?) then I'd love to know.

Been on min for a year and a half and no improvement what so ever. Feels like a waste rubbing it on my head twice a day....

Still waiting to see about finasteride (4 months in)

finasteride helped me maintain - but i have seen crazy re-growth in some cases - i started it late though. Also I 'think' that it is helping me maintain.

I started minoxidil more than a month back and it has made my existing hair on my crown thick - but it is still too early to say anything. I ordered a dermapen so that I can use with minoxidil.

However, I was really disappointed with finasteride but I am still on it.
