Hello all,

I was wondering if a man who is masculine looking has less chance of developing side effects on Finasteride than a man looking more feminine, or is it much more nuanced than that?
In my case for example, I'm 19 and quite lean (around 12% body fat) which I suspect is due to my high levels of DHT (I have lots of body hair also)
Despite knowing this, would you still recommend testing your blood for an hypothetical high estrogen level which can cause side effects due it being elevated even more by finasteride?

Thank you.

From what I heard its people that are predisposed before taking it will get side effects. More likely they were predisposed of getting the symptoms of the side effect buts really its just coincidence. Like they were already heading into a disaster and just happened to get the symptoms a while after taking finasteride.

What causes the lack of horniness if your testosterone actually increases with DHT reduction?

It's probably on me, but I'm having trouble interpreting your comment. Do you mean the side effects are all psychological?

I suggest getting a blood test for peace of mind before starting finasteride. I did it just in case. You can find info on what to test here and which method to choose here: https://moreplatesmoredates.com/pos...ests_you_should_get_before_taking_finasteride

Most people don't get blood work done before starting treatment because most doctors won't order it since there's only like 2% or 5% of people who suffer side effects and 99% of the time they're reversible by stopping treatment. Sadly if you don't do blood work before starting treatment you'll never be sure of the real reason for your side effects. I suspect most people who suffer severe side effects already had low testosterone, high estrogen (Especially estradiol) or high prolactin for example. There's also people who are smokers, obese, diabetics or take antidepressants or anxiolytics. This kinda stuff can decrease libido and can cause ED or make you more prone to it too. And of course, hypochondriacs who end up suffering a strong nocebo effect or somatization disorder after reading sites such as propeciahelp, something I don't recommend if you're planning to start taking finasteride.

I've developed lipoatrophy. Long term (15 yrs+) user of Propecia, switched to Dutasteride last year and have noticed an obvious depression on my left cheek. Dermatologist said it's lipoatrophy. No history of diabetes, high blood pressure, not HIV positive. Lipoatrophy is very rare and from what I've seen on other sights, some have reported same condition after long term use and especially after stopping propecia. Planning on having fat transfer to face which should take care of it but unfortunate this seems to be a long term side effect and studies weren;t available when I started taking it.
