Who Is Going To Be Our Caitlyn Jenner?

Maybe things would change for us if we had a high profile celebrity/athlete come out and speak against all the hate bald guys receive. When I first thought about making this thread I thought that maybe one of us should lead the way to try to make changes in how the world sees bald men. I soon realized that wouldn't work. Any of us would be dismissed in a heartbeat, but think about a celebrity or athlete speaking out against bald shaming. You get someone the caliber of Labron James(powerful, strong) speaking out then I believe people would listen.

Bruce Jenner has received so much support for coming out as transgender. There is even talk of him getting the Arther Ashe award for courage? WTF!!! He is getting so much support. There are already reports of celebrities getting **** on because they did not support Jenner coming out as transgender. We need somebody to lead the way so that we can finally be treated decently by society just as the transexuals are now getting treated.

I have a dream that one day we can be treated as well as the transexuals. I have a dream.

he is brave as **** for doing that. you know as well as i the amount of discrimination transgenders receive. more than baldies thats for sure. hard to deny his courage for it. ofc it cud be argued its for attention but thats a lot of negative attention so i doubt that.

and yea larry david is sort of the bald messiah but he needs to use his platform better. speak out against the discrimination and all. too bad he decided to cash in on it

Unfortunately it is totally acceptable and politically correct to make fun of hair loss. Yet it is completely taboo and unacceptable to poke fun at a person's race, ethnicity, gender, or sexual orientation. I do not like Larry David at all though (sorry Exodus). He just implies further that its OK to make fun of baldness by stereotyping himself as the typical "bald loser".

Transgenders do get a lot of ****, but now because of Jenner's move it is one giant step towards acceptance. Sure there will still be plenty of people in the general public, celebrities or media that are against it, but most will now keep their mouths shut about it. Like I mentioned above, few have already have spoke against it and are already feeling the backlash.

We just need someone to take that first step to get the ball rolling. Until that happens we will still be looked at as the bottom of the food chain. The guys that can still be made fun of and it be socially acceptable. Try doing that with transexuals now and see what happens. We have a transgender person at my place of employment. I wouldn't make fun of this person, but if I did I guarantee I would be fired or at the very least be on a final written warning. The penalty would not be the same for joking about my balding. In fact I highly doubt it would even be an HR issue unless it became an ongoing thing.

See first of all even if a celebrity comes out with the matter people will wonder what the hell he is talking about. Everyone will that he's doing it for publicity because men have lived with it for ages without any complaining.

Secondly, although transsexuals are often openly discriminated against it is a general or politically known thing that discriminating or pointing fun at them is wrong: morally, ethically or politically. It's like fat shaming which happens but it's established that it's wrong morally. Making fun of someone's physical appearance is shallow and cruel. Now coming to baldness, the fact is that it just isn't seen as a major defect. I mean it's like making fun of someone with a big nose or crooked teeth because people think baldness is as small or irrelevant a problem as those things.

People will think: "wth are these bunch of idiots trying to claim? We all have physical shortcomings here and there. These guys are just over sensitive pussies who want to look perfect. Besides there are millions of bald men around the world. Why are only these few thousand bastards coming out and making a noise?" Because trust me there will be a lot of bald men who'll be like "hey! I'm totally fine with my baldness .. idk what these other guys are on about", despite crying about inside.

Have you ever seen a show on TV or anywhere where they show discrimination or even a case where a bald guy feels really sad or depressed because of his hair loss? We've seen shows on racism, sexism, disability, fat shaming, the list goes on and on... But for baldness? We've seen lots and lots of jokes!

I mentioned the Youtube channel thing in a post yesterday and I thought it was a good idea. I have also thrown the idea out to UCman. He probably thought I was just trying to be an ***, but I was serious. If he can actually capture the stuff he describes on camera it was be golden.

RoyD you made some really good points. There will always be those "sellouts" that will try to run with the popular crown and throw fellow bald guys under the bus. Nothing we can do about those guys, but the majority of bald/balding guys will be with us. It might take a while for guys to come out of the woodwork, but eventually they will support the cause. I could be wrong, but I would be willing to bet that the majority of bald guys are suffering on the inside. It doesn't matter how tough, smart, good looking, etc, that you are. When we start balding we all feel like **** about it. Just because most guys have accepted defeat doesn't mean they are not hurting every time they look in the mirror.

I have said this again and again, most of my life, I have experienced very few cases of someone mocking someone for being bald. Most people were mocked for being fat, too skinny, too short, or "looking gay". It was only until I went on forums I discovered this was happening. The stories that we hear from UM seem unbelievable and worthy of recording for the public to watch but I do think he is not fabricating them or imagining them.

On facebook more often than not when a balding guy puts up a picture of himself, there will be comments about his hair. "Hey bro I think ur losing hair". Like no fking sh!t you think that guy dosent realise that his forehead is twice as large as it used to be? Imagine writing "I think ur gaining weight" on some girl's photo

You can only become aware of the abuse towards bald men if you become bald yourself, because YOU'LL BE THE TARGET.

Precisely! Its not like people are coming up to you and slapping you on the head or accross the face or shouting loud taunts at you (barred freds experience) nothing that conspicuous. Its not something someone who is otherwise oblivious would notice... because its more covert and subtle. Social convention prevents them from being so outright offensive so they get their jabs in mostly through tone of voice and general rude attitude. So, its hard to notice from a third persons perspective. It has to be first person, directed at you and then it becomes unmistakeable.

And as far as Jenner goes, American sports legend + beautiful head of hair= can do no wrong in the publics eye.

I remember being mocked for having a receding hair line when I was in middle school. Not sure if I really did have a receding hair line back then, but I didn't really think about that comment much at the time. It is only now that I am much older with extensive hair loss that I actually remember the incident like it was yesterday. I actually believe bald guys get ****ted on regularly, we just have gotten so used to it that when it happens we don't make a huge deal out of it since it has become pretty commonplace.

very true. i remember back in my full head days when I was 12 and watching Smallville, I thought it was ridiculous seeing (SPOILER ALERT) lex luthor get with lana and kissing her. I knew even back then a baldie wud never get a girl like that. It's strange to see anyways. Fred is right in that as a young baldie if you get with a young girl it looks more like you are her father than her boyfriend

It'd have to be a woman to be hair loss' Caitlyn Jenner. A man would just be laughed at, ridiculed and ignored. Don't you guys know, men's health isn't a priority, nobody gives a fuck about that gender.

I always find UC Man's posts interesting. He seems to be attuned to what goes on beneath the surface, with regard to social interaction.
Most people are oblivious or choose not to acknowledge it.

Hair loss will definitely open your eyes to a lot.

On a serious note notcool, this is a great idea, but we should start with a youtube channel, lets keep it simple first. Just documenting and raising awareness would be a first good move. Even if people rip the channel at least we are getting publicity and then we can show them. Ideally we need someone bald and brave going on the streets. But this can be done later, you never know, through this channel some bald guys might be willing to help us!

I think Jenner is mentally ill as well as being an attention hound.

Usually most transexuals will have some mental illness. That's why they have to have years of psychotherapy before they are allowed to proceed with the meds and surgery.

When I saw the thread title, I thought you were suggesting someone here volunteer to change their gender and document recovering all their hair. Lol
