I assume this is a question that hasn't been answered through studies, but based on biological facts, who is more likely to experience side effects? older men, as they are more susceptable to libido issues and other effects caused by increased estrogen levels? 'fat guys' who already have slightly elevated estrogen levels? small guys? men with high or low testosterone levels?

anyone

probably people who worry about them and continue to read about side effects and think about side effect and post about side effects and wonder what a side effect feels like until they think they actually have a side effect

Serious answer:

I think it is people who, ironically enough, have more INSENSITIVE androgen receptors. This means that those with highly sensitive androgen receptors who take finasteride will reap the benefits of maintaining their hair, but won't get sides because the loss of DHT won't mean much to their already highly sensitive androgen receptors in the rest of their body. Unfortunately, there are some people who don't have the correct sensitivity balance and will feel huge side effects since it takes more DHT for their androgen receptors to continue their normal function.

another serious answer:

I think it is the older guys and those who might be borderline on testosterone or whatever anyway like you mention. I have been on finasteride since I was 24 and it never really bothered me back then. It may have take libido down a notch but it wasn't really anything to get upset about. It seemed to work fine and everything was cool. 4 years or so later and its not so cool. Testosterone and DHT decline with age and it may be the case that what was fine back then a few years later is enough to put you out of commission sexually. One thing I think I have noticed on the net in this time is younger and younger guys starting these drugs. Before it seemed to be mostly guys in there 30s and 40s hanging around online. Now there seem to be lots and lots of guys in their late teens to very early 20s jumping on dutasteride/finasteride. Guys taking large dosages and still losing ground/not experiencing sides. On the other hand 0.25mg EOD of dutasteride messed me round bad - its strong stuff. It all just makes me wonder if there isn't a big difference in the ammount that a teen and someone ten years older or more can take before they run into problems.
