Why are concealors and hair pieces socially unacceptable?

I mean, it's OK for women to plaster themselves in make up. Nobody bats a freakin eyelid at facelifts or tummy tucks, but as soon as a guy puts a hair peice on or starts shakin a can of toppik over his shame, it's all a big freakin joke.

Why the double standards?

Discuss.

There is no double standard

People make fun of women who "cake it on" all the time...they also make fun of bad surgeries.

People aren't making fun of hairpieces, they're making fun of bad ones. Guys get ridiculed because they get such obvious bad hair pieces that make them look stupid. And its an insult to think we're fooled by them

People also make fun of bad taste in clothing...decorating etc,

Guys are'nt supposed to be so bothered about their appearance. Its one thing to style your hair but faking hair is seen by society as vanity or a sign of low self conciousness. :dunno:
Totally unfair I know but we are the minority and others just dont understand the situation.

+1... I agree...

Paul: Imagine all those northern lasses wearing carrot juice, do you really think it looks nice? IMO, some British girls don't know how to wear make up and it looks bad. If anything, bad make up is like a tag saying "I am a slapper, and I am up for it".

I love english slang. "Slapper", ROFL

The following is taken from: http://english2american.com/dictionary/s.html

slapper n person on the prowl for anything they can get. Anything. The word is applied more often to females, arguably because it is a built-in function of blokes and doesn't deserve a separate word. “Slappersâ€￾ wander around the dance floor looking for the drunkest blokes and then, when they've found them, woo them by dancing backwards into them “accidentally.â€￾ The are invariably spotted at the end of an evening telling the bouncer how lonely they are and trying to sit on his knee.

I do think it is a double standard. It's not that I have an urge to wear make up and put on a dress but women do some obscene things to attain perfection and they are all more accepted than hair pieces and transplants. You can't tell me that a boob job isn't meant to fulfill some vain desire. Some guys will look at a big fake pair of tits and be like "Fuxk yeah!", but no woman looks at a piece or a transplant and gets turned on. Full on face lifts, injecting hella sh*t into their faces makes hair transplants look the more modest of the "plastic surgery" types. As far as deception goes, women can't touch that either. They have so many little devices to deceive. Padded push up bras....girdles that suck in their fat. So all a hair piece is is the male version of that. I wish that hair pieces would become more socially acceptable so I wouldn't have to feel so bad about considering one as a serious option for my hair loss. Maybe with the advent of metrosexuality where women expect men to be just as high maintenance as them, then these little male devices would be more fairly accepted? Equality is a two way street imo.
