I hear so much about "stopping loss" which I realize is key, but do any of the treatmnents mentioned hear actually encourage GROWTH?

Im on 1mg propecia/day ... been on for almost 2 months ... have gone through initial shed, now Im looking for growth/thickness/volume

Any help appreciated

Yes, it will thicken up exisiting hairs and you may get some regrowth.

if u want thickening and regrowth, u should try minoxidil. but itll do nothing for you rate of loss. you'll need finasteride or dutasteride for that.

it blocks DHT from your scalp and if you are still young, you may see huge regrowth :hairy:

Thanks to all ...

One more thing - define 'the crown' for me ...

I think I may be a diffuse thinner, so exactly how much of my scalp (how far forward) will Propecia affect regrowth and thickness?

Thanks!

The crown is the circular patch at the back/top of your head as covered by those skull caps the Jewish guys wear.

that just gave me a great idea on how guys with only crown thinning can solve their problem:

1) Convert to Judaism

2) Wear the skullcap all the time. People will just think that you're really observant.

Problem solved/ :D

so, in other words, Propecia wont help with the "temples" area, but what about the top front of my head -- where my 'bangs' originate ... any help there?

thanks again

it helps everywhere. I was a fast receding NW3 and propecia stopped my hair loss for 2 years. Maybe it would have stopped anyway. I'm not sure if it thinned a little, so I'm beefing up my regimen.

I try to compare hair density by patting my head, trying to feel how thick it feels. Does that sound accurate? I guess there is no way to know how far down the scalp is. My hair is 1 inch long. It feels just as thick everywhere, but it does not look that way in the mirror when I have minoxidil in front.
