Since I heard that weight lifting can increase testosterone/ Dht levels , will it interfere with the process of finasteride ? Can i Keep on working out every other day and still expect finasteride too work properly?

Im am currently taking 2.5 mg finasteride daily (splitting 5 mg in half)

No, you'll be fine. A surge in testosterone is only temporary for about 30 minutes.

2,5mg a day at 16! How long have you been taking it? No sides?
Ya , at least im pretty sure its 2.5 each time since i try cut them as accurate as possible , really wanna keep my hair , no serious hair loss but my whole family is bald so im scared , so far been taking it two weeks and no noticable side effects which is great

Ok great , What about protein shakes and stuff like that , should probably stay away from those right?

I just try to avoid creatine. That's it.

I've been doing my powerlifting/bodybuilding thing for 10 years now, almost as long as I'm on antiandrogen ( before Propecia, now dutasteride ) and my hair is above baseline. My hairloss is very aggresive, my father was NW6 @ 23 and my mother has alopecia areata and is on methylprednisolone ( a very fucked up drug ).

Your experiences don’t mean everyone is gonna be like that, there’s no need to scare anyone off using it or make them anymore worried than they already are
Whats your opinion on me (16) taking finast 2.5mg , will it be effective? Thanks for the comment btw

All depends on how developed you feel you are I’m 17 and started puberty early now have full chest hair and beard so I felt safe starting it because I felt like puberty had finished for me. That being said 2.5mg is a bit much, it’s better to start on a lower dose and then move up if it loses efficacy. What’s your current hair situation do u have any pictures

I doubt very much that you are getting any extra benefit from taking 2.5mg. Look up the curve that shows DHT suppression at different dosages. It's negligible even between 0.5 and 1. Your wallet will be better off if you lower your dose but don't do it because of this post. Do more research and come to a decision.

Also just to point out, Finasteride itself causes an increase in Testosterone. Remember, it's not being converted into DHT as much as before, hence more circulating levels of it. You may actually experience better gains in the gym. My personal blood tests have shown that my testosterone levels have been consistently higher than before I was on Finasteride. Thankfully it's not being converted into Estrogen as those levels are roughly the same and within range.

Ps. I'm in the gym training 4 times a week. No issues here my friend. In fact i'd say i'm actually in the best shape I've ever been in. Don't stress.

Thanks bro , but since working out increases testosterone levels , will it also increase dht levels for a period of time , or will the dht still remain under control properly by finasteride?

If you started balding at 16 there is no chance finasteride is gonna stop your hairloss

speaking from experience

So the effectiveness of finasteride depends on how sensitive you are to dht (more sensitive = earlier balding)? It won't help more sensitive men but men with mild to moderate dht sensitivity it helps?

No one knows mate there seems to be a consensus that those who experience hairloss later in life are going to be the best responders to finasteride due to their hair loss not being aggressive. But then again plenty of young people respond well to finasteride, in the end it comes down to the individual
