Worried about my hair thinning and my scalp being visible

This is with flash and it looks so bad. I’m 28, I’ve been using minoxidil for 6/7 months now with no improvement really, I’ve just ordered finasteride and hoping this will make my hair thicker again and cover the bit you can see my scalp.
Will finasteride work and do I have to use for the rest of my life and also I’m scared of the side effects, how likely is it that I will have side affects especially one that will affect my sex life.

Give Topical finasteride a try instead.

More possible sides with oral. One guy here claims even better results with topical than oral and his side effects he had on oral went away. But its your call. Topical blocks more scalp dht aswell.
Would you say my hair is bad and is it too late me to save it?

You might be one of the 30% to 45% of men that don't respond to topical minoxidil because they have low amounts of the scalp enzyme that's needed for it to be effective, or lack it completely. You could try using tretinoin or microneedling, it works sometimes, or try oral minoxidil. Keep in mind that oral minoxidil can be detrimental for your cardiovascular health long term, so if you get on it, start doing cardio regularly and eating healthier to try and compensate it.

You seem to be thinning at the crown and midscalp, finasteride should stop it and you might see some thickening or maybe even regrowth if you end up being a good responder to it. Good news is that many diffuse thinners are good responders to meds and some end up being able to maintain on them alone for many years. That thinning would be unnoticeable with a sprinkle of Toppik too.

Try getting started with a custom dose of finasteride if you're worried about the possibility of side effects. Two australian doctors on Youtube (The Hair Loss Show) recommend doing that at first and they say that almost all of their patients don't have any issues at all with 1 mg thrice a week. That's how I got started too, and eventually upped the dosage to 1 mg five times a week. Many men don't need to take 1 mg everyday, might be taking too much and that's why they get some sides. In any case, 96% of men don't have any long term lasting side effects with finasteride at all. It is far more likely to have a car accident or get ran over by a dumbass while crossing the street than getting long term lasting finasteride side effects. Definitely avoid websites such as propeciahelp cuz you would be risking getting the Nocebo Effect.

Still early in my opinion but you should get started soon.
Thanks for your reply :) yeah I think I may be, cause I’ve literally not noticed any difference using minoxidil, I’m worried though to stop incase my hair starts falling out.

I’ve spoke to my friend who’s a doctor he told me to get on finasteride 1mg and that I’ll be fine.. over time.. again I’m worried about not being able to get an erection or that if I was to have a kid and it was a boy, it could affect the size of his downstairs area?
I had a car accident on the motorway 2 years ago where I broke my arm and ribs and had head injury and I’m starting to think due to the head collision and trauma, that’s likely played a factor but I could be wrong.

Yeah you might have some nut ache the first week but it will go away on its own. If you worry about not being able to get an erection you might end up suffering the Nocebo Effect. For example you can read peer-reviewed clinical studies on pubmed via scihub (There's hundreds of them) and when men where given a placebo and told that it could cause ED some actually ended up with ED due to the Nocebo Effect, which is psychologically induced.

Pregnant women shouldn't handle finasteride pills and it is recommended to avoid taking it for two or three months before you start trying to conceive.

I’m a male btw, have you been finasteride yourself, how did it affect you and did you get any side effects?

Been on it for almost a year already. Was also worried about the possibility of sides at first too so I started with 1 mg thrice a week and then titeated upwards after four or five months. Got ball ache the first week but it went away on its own. If anything I'd say I feel more collected and calmer nowadays. Most of my hair gains were due to minoxidil tho, I can send you my thread's link if you want to check out my progress.

Wouldn't worry about sides because even if you get them you can decrease dosage. I'd be more worried about becoming a slap head
