DHT is one of the main factors for growing muscles, this I have heard. So, all of you on finasteride, are you having a hard time gaining muscles. I am planning to start on it and along with all the other side effects, this one worries me too.
Is there anyone out here whose workouts has been showing gains after starting Propecia ?

Thanks

finasteride hasn't hurt my strength or size gains. #1 Diet. #2 Technique. #3 Consistency.

I've read that DHT is very weakly anabolic, just very androgenic. Basically, all the secondary male sex characteristics without giving muscle gain.

it has not hurt me either. i can miss a month of going to the gym and come back benching 10 pounds more than when i left. it is all about my diet and sleep and my enjoyment of climbing my apartment complex gate and fetching frizbees off first floor balconies for people.

Cool....This sounds good...
From what I have read...your lifting power or strength dosent go down..its just that your muscles wont get bigger...hopefully thats not the case

^where did u read tht? i think its sounds abit ridiculous to be honest.

iv also read sumwhere that testosterone is higher in ur body whilst on propecia, meaning surely that this will make u even better in the gym?

DHT is a stronger androgen. Every bit of extra testosterone come from an equal amount less DHT. I don't know DHT's role in muscle building. I just know that propecia did not stop me from building power fast. I need to get more consistent before I can comment on size. Actually, either I learned to flex or I just noticed it but about 6 months or a year after starting propecia, I could really see my wings well. That really made me feel good. now if I could just flex my abs and my wings at the same time...

That's a shaky hypothesis, to be sure!

Believe it or not I am on finasteride since about 2 weeks and since then I have gained muscles. I had some small man boobs since puberty, so I was scared as hell, that they would becomre more noticeable when taking finasteride. So I have done push-ups like crazy in the last 2 weeks and today in the morning I noticed: I have developed muscles on my chest. It is a great feeling even though my hair loss is worse than ever.

I was reading over at a bodybuilding forum where they suggested if you were on steroids, ans started to lose you hair that you should try propecia. So it seems that if it did affect muscle gains that they woudnt suggest you take propecia.

bodybuilders use it to combat male pattern baldness that is caused by steroid use, bodybuilding can also increased or accelerate MBP, also used as a masking agent for steroid detection

non-steroid bodybuilding, otherwise known as natural bodybuilding cannot increase or accelerate male pattern baldness, as far as I know. where'd you read this?

I lift 4x a week and have noticed no increase hair loss while I've been on finasteride. I use no steroids and no supplements except for whey protein powder, which is natural.

isn't finasteride one of the banned drugs from olympic and other international competitions like cycling?
