How bad is it to discontinue minoxidil for 5 weeks

As my title asks, I'm worried about how bad stopping minoxidil for 5 weeks would be? I just had IPL a laser treatment done for visible veins near my eyes, and I was told to stay away from minoxidil for 5 weeks, as my doctor said it was a vasiladator I believe was the word, and could negate the effects of the laser treatment.

I've been on minoxidil since, December 21st so around a week from 3 months. How much progress will.I lose by discontinuing for over a month? Will I have to experience a minoxidil shed again when I go back on it? As I've already started to see the benefits of minoxidil.

Probably quite bad. I think going like up two two weeks without minoxidil is still fine (and that that is the period of time that people who get transplants will have to wait, not sure), but any longer and you'll risk getting a huge shed when you re-start or even will flat out start experiencing hair fall. Maybe someone with experience can chime in on the timeline but if you think about the fact you need to apply minoxidil once a day for maintenance purposes, going that long without it is going to be devastating for the minoxidil-dependent hair.

I lost a lot of hair when I quit rogaine. I went from Norwood 2.5 with full hair to Norwood 3.5 diffusing to a Norwood 5.

Thats scary bro.. did u initially see any gain from.minoxidil itself? It's 5 months I'm on minoxidil and my hairs def got worse.. about 4 months in I moved to once a day and noticed a little bit of a hit.. did u use it twice a day?

Mmh... but I doubt quitting rogaine is what caused you to lose that much hair. I know it helps maintain hair and give you some regrowth, but 2.5 to a 3.5 then a Norwood 5 seems like your balding may of just started to become aggressive.

Have you noticed any regrowth or signs of it getting better though? As I've read that if you don't see any good signs by 4 months you should either see your doctor, or possibly discontinue as it may not be working for you. Like I'm only at 3 months and I've started to see the start of some results, but I did go through a pretty big shed at the 3 week mark.

I def noticed a shed then an abrupt stop but my improvements were tiny hairs popping out on the receded corners... although I do somewhat consider minoxidil is slowing the thinning of my vertex... it's 3 months I've been on and off finasteride trying to find the right dose and avoid gyno flare ups.. my hair isn't getting better yet but I'm hoping to see some results with my adjusted dosage and minoxidil

When you say bad is there a way to determine how bad, as I've only been on it for not even 3 months I'm not sure if I'll lose that much to begin with. I've seen you post a lot and you seem to be reputable and knowledgeable on the subject, so do you think even doing minoxidil once a week would be enough to keep things going? At least just for these 5 weeks that I shouldn't be using it.
